back to what you guys were saying about the cost of travel baseball, the time commitment, etc, I coach a competitive travel team here in Indiana. I am only 21 and do it for the fun of it simply because I love baseball and my career ended to early for my liking. These kids are a blast to be around and it literally is an entire year thing for most teams, not just the summer. We just started our 2013 season, less than a month after the 2012 season wrapped up. I played travel baseball for 8 years myself and never realized the sacrifice my mom (single mother) and to a lesser extent father put in for me to enjoy my childhood so much. To this day, I still hangout with the kids I played with and still reminisce about certain times of our "career". A few of them have even moved on to D1 baseball and still say the little league days were the best. As a coach now, I see the other side of it, such as the money and what not. Our team is extremely affordable compared to other programs. We only charge $350 for the entire summer and usually do 1 or 2 small fundraisers towards the end of the summer. Some of the other local programs charge over $1000 per player and you have to do extensive fundraising. This also does not include the travel costs that you may incur. Just watching the little league world series makes me happy because I know how these kids will remember the short week or two for the rest of their lives.
