Stumbled across a web site that had film breakdowns of our current 2013 commits. The website is XOFan. The analysis is done by Matt Alkire who worked for Scout for a number of years. Here is his bio for anyone who cares

Matt Alkire is also employed by Fox Sports where he works as a college and high school football recruiting analyst, mainly covering the Northeast portion of the country for Scout.com where he coordinates with players, coaches and administrators at the high school and collegiate levels. He is a regular for many ESPN radio affiliates for both the NFL Draft and high school recruiting, contributes on a regular basis to Fox publications and was also featured in former New England Patriot All-Pro Brent William’s book “Recruit My Son”. He has been doing extensive film study since the 2003 season for the NFL Draft. As a football player, Alkire played both defensive end and tight end and comes from a family with a rich coaching background.

Links to the film breakdowns are below. I created a separate thread out of convenience to show them all in one place. I will try to add them to the individual threads later.

As some of you may know the guy that wrote these used to go by 46Defense on the 4HL on Irish Illustrated before he left. He had an overt loyalty to charley molnar for some reason. Seems to be pretty objective in these reprots at least.

High on Zaire!

Not encouraging words on our CB depth since he thinks both Butler and Kinlaw are better suited elsewhere (good gets but not necessarily solving the CB riddle).

Thanks for posting the links!

I was reading his analysis on Butler...Does this guy have any idea what type of defense ND runs, especially what they ask their corners to do?

Gonzaga runs a ton of zone coverage, so much of his responsibility was processing information quickly and getting into a position to make a play on the ball. In this department, Butler flourished on film. He was so impressive being in the right place at the right time and then got in great position on receivers, making sure he was between them in the ball so only he could make a play on the pass.

The fact that he hasn’t played much press coverage would worry me a bit

Notre Dame mostly plays cover 2, so going by his analysis Butler is a perfect fit. So I don't understand hid thought process.

If ND played a ton of man I totally agree that Butler would be a better fit at FS. I've mentioned that in Butlers thread that he would be a great FS. But, Butler will be fine at corner in ND cover two once he learns to wrap up.

I think he was referring to having to film on press coverage, ND does play a lot of cover 2, but they still play press every now and then and its good to know how well a kid can do if put in that situation.
