I posted a UND article in the ND Athletics Forum on ND's win over PSU where Yeatman had a pair of unassisted goals. I started to post it here but figured some moderator would kick it out of the football forum even though it's related because of Yeatman.
In addition to the two goals, he also dished out an assist. Yeatman is having a great freshman campaign as a LAX Attacker. He's Tied for 2nd in Scoring, Tied for 3rd in Goals, and is 1st in Assists and he's a football player! Not a RB or a WR but a big bruising TE and he's scoring with frequency in a game that combines speed, strength, agility, and finesse.
Actually all that damn running around as an attacker is not helping to turn him into a OT. Where I see his future ala Andy Heck, Luke Petitgout and others who have made the switch from TE to OT as there bodies continued to grow. Unfortunately (from my viewpoint, Will's not going to bulk up to 300 pounds expending all those calories on the LAX field. But he's going to be in great shape as a bruising TE if he doesn't slide inside.
Check the size of the ND LAX Team Attackers:
Peter Christman 5-10/160
Matt Ciambella 6-1/198
John Greaney 5-10/182
Neal Hicks 5-11/170
Ryan Hoff 5-11/203
Brian Hubschmann 6-5/198
Patrick O'Toole 5-11/180
Dan Scolaro 5-11/170
Sloan Smith 6-2/185
Duncan Swezey 6-2/198
Alex Wharton 5-11/160
Will Yeatman 6-6/260
There's only one other player on the team near his size, Scott Rodgers at 6-3/255, a goalie.
BTW, Yeatman was listed at 250 in the Sugar Bowl Media Guide. He's a growing boy added 10 pounds of lean muscle despite all that running around carrying a stick.
Looking back through ND FB depth charts of previous years, Yeatman at 260 is the beefiest freshman (he's still in his freshman year) to play TE. Guys like Fasano, Holloway, O'Leary, Chryplewicz, and McBride played at that weight - as Seniors. I think only Owens and Godsey at 270 were significantly bigger - and they were Seniors. I don't recall anybody from the Smash Mouth Holtz days being this size.
Yeatman could easily be 270 by next Fall.
That's the same weight Ryan Harris was listed at as a starting RT in '03. If Yeatman stays at TE, he becomes, in effect, a 6th OL on an OLine that is going to need help. At that size and with the agility he's shown on the lacrosse field he should be able to handle most DEs in a blocking scheme. And he'd be deadly on a delayed pass route, particularly at the goal line.
