Worked at a tire factory for a short time. I was hoping to get a job driving a forklift or working in the warehouse, instead I was sent to the "mixing" department. I was put in charge of a two story rubber mixing oven that belched carbon and spit oil. It was hot, dirty, and also back breaking because we had to load the rubber blocks onto the conveyor belt that fed the mixer. It was like a 100 degree above ground coal mine. I worked 10pm to 10am on the weekends and had three other 8 hour shifts because of mandatory overtime. After each shift I would be covered in carbon dust from head to toe and would have to bathe in Lava soap to get it off. I didn't do my lungs any favors by inhaling all that garbage either.
The money was fair but certainly not great and to top everything off, I missed the final game of the 2006 World Series because I was stuck at that God forsaken hell hole.
I guess in a way it was good because that job was so horrible it drove me back to college where I received a degree, but besides that everything about that job was awful.
