Agreed. I mean we shot like 1 for 11 from 3 point land. If we hit half of those we'd have a comfortable lead. Cheers to you for hoping Falls and Carter catch a little fire baby!@!

this was not the same team i watched all year. it is 54-36 right now. i just cant believe winthrop is this good. dont get me wrong they are playing well, but nd just didnt show up. everything i thought nd wouldnt do (play without emotion, come out flat, not be hungry, etc...) they are doing right now. hats off to winthrop

I am not impressed with Winthrop....I think we are killing ourselves....hopefully that can get a little run going

we have some momentum but we didnt get that rebound on the 1 and 1. i had to turn it off for a little i was getting scared. saying if we do comeback and win, we can not play like this next round

i assume you are talking about the block on ayers.....yea the announcer says late whistle. it was more than late, we had gotten the rebound and already were running up the floor. oh and the ref right next to the play doesnt make the call, but the ref at half court comes running in. ridiculous

Damn, slightly embarassing. I thought the team was better than that and would go far after pushing Georgetown last week. Guess I was wrong

Oh yeah, blame the refs. Classic Nd self-absorption. You are not the underdogs anymore. No one is out to get you.

If you really want to know the culprit here, it's Mike Brey. Duke assistants are a cancer. They underachieve everywhere they go. Can any of you Nd fans who are even remote followers of your basketball team tell me that Brey has been successful? Look at Nd's ridiculously easy schedule this year, even in conference it was easy. Win against Maryland is erased by a loss to South Florida.

Watching the last five minutes of the game was like watching Michigan basketball. It was the EXACT SAME THING. It's not poor execution. It's a clueless coach who folds under pressure and lays his players out to dry. In the meantime, Gregg Marshall ran several excellent set plays to Bradshaw, resulting in wide open layups. This reveals the Duke assistant's inability to adjust during the game.

Even Nd deserves better than this. There should be a warm seat next to Tommy Amaker next year for Mike Brey.

BTW the refs did blow that call. It was a no call by the ref looking right at the play but the one down the court called a foul.

But you have to look beyond one call. Even if I concede that, you have to ask how Nd dug themselves into such a deep hold to begin with. And keep in mind, Winthrop was playing not to lose for much of the second half after they built their lead. That is understandable, as they are not accustomed to being in this situation. But with 5 minutes left, when the game was on the line, Marshall made the call, and Winthrop made the players. Brey was clueless. That was the difference.

Read the post carefully. I'm trying to help you out here, by warning you about Duke assistants. As our disasterous coach is also a Duke assistant, and I was shocked by the similarities in the way each team played down the stretch.

Michigan basketball, for what it's worth, is an absolute joke. We are probably the most overrated team in the country. I don't understand why we get any respect (maybe it's the Duke aura). We haven't proved anything yet. Heck, we can't even make the tourney. If you continue to keep Brey, I think this will happen to you. It happened to Missouri. It happened to us. And it's probably going to happen to you and Oklahoma.

A Michigan fan calling people out about blaming the refs. In the entire history of UM sports, UM has never lost a game, the refs have always screwed them.

Winthrop did play better and looked like the team that was going to win, but how many times have you seen someone not in an event change it in some way(CUBS).

Nd gets their fair share of calls, esp. in football.

My point was that you can't blame the refs for your basketball loss. I am simply trying to warn you guys about the cancer that is former Duke assistants. We have a common problem here.

Always beware those who are just trying to help. Your premise is so stupid it's laughable. When you are mature enough, then provide some interesting (and thoughtful) analysis.

Refs aside, we didn't take care of business in the 2d half, and we were too dependent on the 3. Harangody had difficulty inside, and we weren't good on the offensive boards.

If you don't get the second chance baskets in the tourney, you're going to have trouble.

We overachieved this year. Let's hope there is some momentum we can take forward.
