Saban would be here two or three years. Then, when it looks like his team won't be a national title contender, he'll bolt for another team.

He has a history of doing this.

Well I am down here watching what Saban has done with a terrible UA team and this man can recruit and put together a great coaching staff. He is from the NE and has coached at MSU if I'm correct, ND could easily outbid UA. We need a big time coach from a big time program end of story.

Well the only reason he would come would be the history, tradition, national recruiting, prestige, exposure, and MONEY. Money is the bottom line for this guy, you never know now a days but I would love to see it. With the right coaching staff we could be back on top quickly and with that means more revenue so money should be no object in this search but just don't come to me because I am flat broke.

I think the days of finding a coach that will stay around past 5 to 7 years are gone, your either very successful and your gone or your fired and gone. That is another reason today's coaches jump at the money so quickly.

Coaches want to climb the ladder but a lot of coaches realize that they don't want to leave college for the professional ranks. Urban Meyer wasn't at Utah that long, sure, but where is he going to go next?

Guys climbing the ladder always have short stays at mid-level schools. But once you hit the USC's (look at Pete Carrol) and Alabama's, etc. you stay put.

Very true about hitting the top, but I perceive ND to be the top football program in the country ( well it has been awhile ) but ND could be there once again. USC, UA, OU, and the like our tops in their conference but ND has always been the granddaddy of them all. Well that is the way I have always seen them. Down here it has always been Alabama & Auburn but growing up around my grandfather is how I began to follow ND and I have always felt ND was the top team in college football.
