I was just checking local recruits from Indiana and I noticed this recruit is from Indianapolis and is going to North (Probations coming soon) Carolina.

Kiaro Holts

Scout: *****

Espn: ****

I dont know the complete story on why we have not offered but we need an OT and this kid sure does fit the bill. Any info related to this issue?

Looks like he took one official visit and was done. Wonder if there is a UNC connection of some sort?

On one of the ND sites, it was implied

On one of the ND sites, it was implied

that his high school was one that did not send players to ND. It may have been an educational issue also.

Warren Central, while being a football power in 5A (largest schools), I don't think they're known for their academic integrity. They've put a number of kids in D1 programs over the last decade but I would be shocked if any or all of them would have cleared admissions at ND. I could be wrong on this but I don't recall any of our past coaches offering schollies to any of the kids there. Usually most kids have to be able to clear admissions before we offer them a scholly.

James Hurst is another one, except he was from the 2010 class. He is from Indianapolis but went to UNC. He's a 4 star 6.0 with Rivals! And a 5 star with Scout.

And yet the in state power, ND, can't get a shot it seems. They're taking our best in state linemen. Probably academic issues.

From what I remember Holts was not interested in coming to Notre Dame from the start.

I'm well versed in the IHSAA football game and am an administrator of the largest high school football website in Indiana.

The poster who stated that Warren is not known for it's academic integrity is 100% correct. A few years ago, they had a **** safety named Jerimy Finch who signed and played for Urban Meyer @ UF. The only thing was, the sole reason he had the credits to graduate is that the HFC's wife was his "special education" teacher and he scraped by with the minimum passing classes. His ACT and SAT scores were abysmal. Finch then consequently flunked out of UF and later IU, which gave a lot of credibility to the fact that Warren was socially promoting their gifted athletes.

I'm not saying Holts/Darren Evans/many other Warren players are in the exact same boat, but the academic standards at Warren do not exactly promote the high ideals of scholar athletes that we are recruiting here at ND.

Bottom Line: No way Holts would have cleared admissions and I'm not sure he was looking to work that hard to be able to clear admissions at a place like ND.
