Rest of the Media is way to ignorant to realise this. Or they know it, but act like its still Weis' fault. To get the fans all fired up, so their show ratings go up.

It's not totally Willinghams fault, he isn't coaching now. BUT, we are paying the price for his inept recruiting. I fault the program for ever hiring him in the first place.

Charlie will be the one fired next year if this thing don't get fixed. It wont be Willingham. When you take over from someone else, and been coaching the team for three years, you don't go around thinking I can blame the other guy. Let's not be diverted from the actually problems. Charlie Weiss is the coach of Notre Dame. Charlie Weiss better fix this shyt.

Ty brought in Brady because another player would not come to South Bend without Brady. Oh well, CW has the helm now and in the end he will take responsibilty for an NC or getting fired.

I doubt Charlie gets fired any time soon. He is on the sidelines now and he does accept all the blame. However, with a young team and the schedule we have there is not much he can do. What the article fails to point out, that if we had some cupcakes on the schedule maybe Duncan, Turkovich and other first time starters would have gotten some playing time last year. As the article points out our young guys are playing because there is literally no one in front of them. Also, it would have been great for Jimmy to have been here for one year with Brady. He would have gotten to see what it takes to play QB at the major college level. Not have enough seniors around to show the young guys the right way to do things is also hurting this team. The current freshman and the projected class coming in should helps this team quantity wise and quality wise. The current freshman and sophmores will have to learn from this year and make sure incoming classes know how bad this felt and make sure they work hard everyday to see that it does not happen again.

Goldendomer88, you are golden.

Junkhead, you took the thought right out of my head. I think AD White is responsible.

onenybrudder, Great post brudda. And Im not diverted from the actually problems either.

Meangreen MasterGuns and Rockne - great posts. Why are they great posts? Because they give me some insight and help me defend the fact that I wear an ND shirt in public now. I am currently looking for a shirt that has the biggest NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL printed on it.

Rockne, I usually really enjoy your posts and have always been one of your biggest defenders, but I think you need to calm down here.

There is obviously no excuse for how badly the team has played this year. I doubt, though, that we actually have more UPPERCLASS talent than any of the schools you mention, and obviously it's our youth that's a big part of the problem. I don't remember Weis BRAGGING about any "nasty" - just promising it - and I think that with time we'll start see more and more players who bring that attitude.

To some extent I think your post is a symptom of what happens when people get too excited about recruiting: we see what these kids are doing in high school and watch their highlight reels, and then expect them to come in and perform right away. But that's NOT the way it works - it takes a long time to build up the physical strength to play serious college ball, to hone one's skill set, and to get fully acquainted with the system one is playing in. There's no reason to expect kids to be able to play at a high level right out of high school, unless - as is the case with USC, for example - they're surrounded by a level of talent that enables them to just go do their thing and not worry about the details. Right now, though, that clearly isn't the case at ND - and a huge part of that has to do with Willingham's dreadful recruiting.

I agree, though, that the excuses are getting old. But so is impatience. Weis has shown, beyond a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that he can win if he has talent on the field. Give these kids a chance to grow up.

johnn05. you are becoming quite the little bipolar dude you are accusin me of. Take a step back and analyze yourself. Have a beer. Relax.

You aren't that impressive. Step away from your computer and give your wife a kiss.

Then get back to feeding me all the information about ND football that you can.

Is that a bipolar opinion?

I think i'd have to agree with what the article said, its the depth. Recruiting is huge but you cant win a national championship with two good recruiting classes. A team full of freshmen and sophomores wont bring as many wins home as the team with the leadership and experience the older players bring to the game.

John - yes

Wham - huh?....

The entire blame issue is a moot point right now. Maybe it's ty, maybe it's Weis, maybe it's just the facts of life. Or maybe it's a combination of all three, and it's getting better as quickly as it's ever going to since the team seems to be maturing through the first 5 games. I don't think blame has ever helped to elevate a program (at least not mid-season), so lets forget that word and talk about stuff that matters, like why Tate has rocket feul in his legs.

Seriously. How the heck did it get there? Is that legal? Do you think the NCAA has a problem with it?

Its legal. Look under Rule 81.5 of the NCAA Athletic Code of Conduct. Its mentioned in the third or fourth sentence.

Man I always fell asleep through the NCAA rules lectures. After reviewing the unecessary 13 pages of rules I see there IS a jet-fuel exception.
