One that will get overlooked but is up there is the Giants in Super Bowl 25. That Bills team was hard to stop but another Bill was waiting for them

The Philadelphia Eagles held an offense led by the potential GOAT to 23 total yards and 1 first down in the first half of super bowl 59. Ended the game with 6 sacks and 3 forced turnovers including a pick 6. Felt pretty dominant to me idk.

James Harrison going 100, hands down best defense performance by the whole unit...even for just 1 play!

Pats SB 53 vs Rams.

Held them to 3 points and 260 yards. They averaged 33 points during the season (14th highest scoring team in history). Furthest they advanced the ball all game was the NE 26.

Great first half, but the second half also counts on the stat sheet and in the record books. They ended up giving up 22 points to a team that only scored 30 points twice during the entire season and averaged 22.6 points per game which was 15th out of 32 teams last year.

Great effort, but some SB defenses pitched shutouts and gave up less yards.

It was a great second half too. Lol. 16 points were scored after Gatorade was dumped on Sirianni.

I’d still go Bucs. 3 pick 6s, 5 interceptions all together against the number 1 offense and NFL MVP. They win that game if the Bucs offense never takes the field, 21-10.
That Bucs defense gave up two passing touchdowns, a 39-yarder to Jerry Porter and a 48-yarder to Jerry Rice. The Raiders were second in scoring in the NFL averaging 28.1 ppg.

Those 16 points still count on the scoreboard and in the record book? Or is there a line that's drawn for each Super Bowl that varies when giving up points differs?

I’m not even making a case for them being the best. It was still a great defensive performance. Patrick Mahomes scoring on second stringers doesn’t negate that

'83 Raiders, 9 points to best offense avg 34 ppg
'85 Bears, before Ditka called the dogs off in 4th!
'00 Ravens, D allowed 0
'02 Bucs, D scored 18 points!
'07 Giants, allowing 14 to offense avg 38 ppg!
'13 LOB, allowing 8 to best offense ever who couldn't seem to catch a cold that day!

HM:
'72 Dolphins, D allowed 0
'74 Steelers, D allowed 0

Didn't pitch a shutout like some other SB defenses and in reality, how good was a Tony Eason-led offense......

Walter Payton fumbled on his own 19 on the second play of the game. The Pats had three incomplete passes and kicked a short field goal. So those 3 are not really on the Bears defense. The Pats ended the first half with -19 yards of offense. NE really only had one offensive drive the whole game.

Has anyone mentioned the 72 dolphins,…?
I'm sure one of them is out there mentioning themselves even though no one actually asked. So many of them were/are insufferable.

I think they beat two teams that were over .500 that year and both of them went 8-6.

Im glad to see some ppl actually watched the game, that D allowed negative yards in the 1st half and before Ditka called the dogs off it had allowed 43yds.

In the Super Bowl, yes. I was referencing the regular season and should have specified.

They beat the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game at Three Rivers. Fair play to them. Many of those guys, however, became incredibly annoying once they retired. Popping champagne every year the final unbeaten NFL team would lose, Mercury Morris constantly running his mouth to anyone who would listen up until he passed away last year.

I think at least six of the guys on that team were diagnosed with CTE.

It's hard to say if we will ever see a team go unbeaten again, especially if they keep adding games.

IIRC it was the Dolphins who handed the Bears their only loss during their 1985 run. Shula had Marino rolling out consistently instead of staying in the pocket which seemed to be a shrewd move against Ryan’s D.
