4. Why aren't there any misdirection, veer, counter runs???? The running game appears to be straight off tackle or to the outside all of the time. Too predictable.

You have to delay on those types of runs which would completely eliminate the already slim chance that our RB's have to make it back to the line of scrimmage.

What do we need to do to correct the problem?

Were it me, I would fire Latina and find somebody who can teach players in the developmental stage how to block. Forget about weighing 300 lbs. because it doesn't mean a thing. If that weight was put on in the form of fat than it is completely useless and would actually be detrimental. It would serve only to slow the o-linemen down which seems to be the case as evidenced by Pitt rushing three linemen in OT last week and still getting sacks.

I know that if I was on defense I would have called out everyone on that side of the ball. I would have went into one of the sideline huddles (the huddles right before the offense takes the field after a kickoff, punt or turnover) and asked to be put in on offense. I would have said that I could play better than any of the pussies on the o-line. It would have been worth a shot.

I would have charged onto the field and destroyed somebody's kneecap.

I would not have spoken to a single teammate on the sideline.

I would not speak to a teammate for the rest of the season. Maybe for the rest of my life, because of their pansie effort.

ND football looked like a bunch of girly boys tonight.

Have no choice 'cept to improve.

If I were Shaquelle Evans I would be crawling back to Pete Carroll, begging to be a back up for USC. I can't imagine why he would commit to ND.

That's a scary thought, because I think we may be seeing the beginning of what is the emptiness of [NAME REDACTED]'s promises of hope for the program to the elite recruits over the last couple years.

Well, lucky for us.....you ain't him. Shaq will have a chance to showcase his skills here, and get early time instead of being stuck on a bench.
Plus, least we forget, he gets a world class education at ND. I'm not an Irish fan just because we won the NC in '88. There's more to it than that, and most of these players get that.

That is just a stupid thing to say. One of the things Shaq said he loved about ND was the fans. God help us if he reads this board.

1. The offensive play calling for the entire game was terrible.

2. Clausen telegraphs "almost" every pass by only looking at one receiver. Too Predictable.

3. Clausen "is taught" to hand off the ball by holding it out for all to see; and with the back 7+ yards deep, and the "D" knowing where to go, the running game hasn't a chance. Why can't he hide the ball before the handoff? Too predictable.

4. Why aren't there any misdirection, veer, counter runs???? The running game appears to be straight off tackle or to the outside all of the time. Too predictable.

5. Finally, two backs were in the backfield, but the same runs were used.

6. The "O" line stinks, but I think it has more to do with the coaching. Same with the unimaginative play calling.

6. We are too predictable with "No Imagination." Weis appears to continue to force "his way or no way" play calling on the team. Sometimes, "new dogs can learn old tricks from the masters," like Ara and Lou. Weis says he talks to them all of the time. It appears he doesn't learn anything from them or is too arrogant to use some of their scemes. With all this talent it's a damn shame. Pretty soon, seeing this game plan, the recruits will walk away and we'll really be screwed.

7. Bring back Ara or Lou. It doesn't matter how old they are, I believe they can do a better job!

other than bringing back Ara or Lou :)laugh:), many good points.

Latina may need to be replaced if only for the benefit of getting someone fresh in. But the strength issue is on Mendoza, not necessarily Latina.

I've not seen too many situations where a ND player just out muscled or leveraged another player, or hit someone hard where we all felt it. to me that's more instinct and coaching than raw strength.

all of the coaches need to evalute what they're doing out there, because the product on the field needs alot of work.

we're still better than last year, record wise... and do we want to wait a few more years with a new coach trying to rebuild the team?

Well this is part of being an ND fan. It's called passion.

What I said was not stupid, it's stupid to hide your head in the sand and pretend like everything is great--it's not.

The kid already gave USC a soft verbal and then broke it, why, I don't know. But if you think that he's going to stick around because of ND's fans than you're completely naive. The best players go to winning programs. In the last two years we haven't been able to beat teams above .500; even during the "glory years" of '05 & '06 we got destroyed by OSU and LSU in BCS games.

Just give the rah rah stuff a rest long enough to realize some of the defeciencies that exist....namely the o-line and Latina.

How long do you think that the "ND Mystique" is going to sell this program to recruits? How much longer do you think that Charlie Weis' Super Bowl Rings are going to wow recruits? You have to wonder how much he had to do with New England's SB's....look at the season they had last year, look at the offense they had last year (three years removed from CW being there).

I think that technique has a lot to do with the o-line, too. I haven't seen a whole lot of that either.

I wouldn't want change for the sake of change. I think that's always counter-constructive. I have a hard time blaming the strength coach because Golden and Jimmy have both gotten stronger and, sans yesterday, they look great.
