People need to realize that Weis has yet to have a complete team that he can count on, the last two years, he's had starters that could play with anybody, but hasn't had any kind of depth to speak of. This year half the team are new starters, but also the back ups have no to very little experience. We need to give Weis the benefit of the doubt, because he surely hasn't forgotten how to coach, just too many ineperienced players on the field at the same time.

Let me start by saying i am not bashing ND in any way. Just a college football fan here making a few observations. With that out of the way...im not so sure i understand what you're trying to get at with this post. Weis has had 3 recruiting classes to work with, and by now those players should be "developed" into being ready to play. Just becuase a player isnt a starter, doesnt mean he doesnt play. Last year, against the #2 team in the nation on the road...OSU went on their first TD drive down the field with their ENTIRE 2nd team O-Line. So it might be that Weis isnt playing enough players and getting them experience. However, i dont watch all the ND games, so i could be entirely wrong. from the 2005 recruiting class, 11 players start...all with significant experience. Whats the number for ND?

Also for the Ty guys that want to compare Washington to ND, especially after the close game with USC. UW will not get the same play from USC as ND would get from them. Washington is just another game for them, but ND is a rival game and they will give all out effort for this game.

there's no way you can say this. Obviously USC couldnt have treated it like another game...becuase if they did, they would have lost. And no offense...but i think USC would treat ND as just another game this year based on team play

The 2005 class isn't Weis's, it's Willingham's, and it's arguably the worst recruiting class in the history of Notre Dame football. There are a total of six players from it who start. I'm not saying Weis is beyond reproach here, just setting the record straight.

1. USC hasn't lost a lot of games recently, so the statistical probability is that they would have won, had they treated it like another game.

2. Did you watch the game, or even look at the box score? USC had 161 yards in penalties. I'm not saying that they treat ND like a bowl game or anything, but the only reason the Washington game was even close, is because USC played probably their worst game of the Pete Carroll era. Something they are not likely to repeat anytime again, this year.

Man...this has got to be about the whiniest thread ever...get over it guys, this is going to be a bad year...end of story

we are showing signs of improvement and we will continue to do so...anyone who doesn't see that, get off the ND bandwagon now and cheer for USC until the poodle goes to coach San Diego next year

and by the way...Charlie was hired in mid Dec 2004 and continued his duties as NE OC until their season ended...the recruits that started in 2005 are CW's in name only...even though signining day was a month and a half away, he had no real chance to get any cream of the crop players for that class as most already committed

Please...wait and see what happens as we go into NEXT YEAR

oh and QUIT WHINING!

Another thing to understand about Washington is that Ty filled this class with JC transfers to get his talent level up a little. This is because he was too busy golfing during most of the recruiting season.

Guys, honestly, enough about Ty. I loved Ty when he coached ND, and I love him now that he is at Washington doing his thing. What happened has happened, and now we stuck with a poor looking season. However, CW can lead us through this, regardless who's fault it is.

Week by week we are showing signs of improvement, signs of becoming a team. I must admit that I changed the channel a couple times during the first half of last weeks game, really the first time I had done that all season, but the second half CW ignited a spark in them and they responded. THIS shows that he is capable of being a quality coach, THIS shows that the players believe in him and just need to get out of this train wreck.

The talent is there, and honestly I think we can pull it out against UCLA or BC, we just need to remain focused and this team just needs to start believing in each other and themselves.

Clearly this season isn't going to get us to the BCS championship, but the positives are that we are getting all around game experience. We lost 8 of 11 starters on offense. 4 new O-Linemen, 18 year old QB, etc. But, this young, inexperienced team scored 19 points in the second half because they are starting to pull together. This team in 2 years will be a powerhouse. Mark my words! Mark them!!

Im just sick of people saying that weis has had 3 recruiting classes when that simply isnt true. his first class was all willingham recruits, and all weis could do was keep it in tact as he took the job after the patriots won the super bowl, which was just days before signing day. i guess some people just cant understand that. it doesnt seem that complicated to me. and the reason other programs are winning with young players is b/c they are complemented with talented upperclassmen. we are not in that situation.

I've been an ND fan for over 30 years and I've never seen a team play as bad as they're playing.

God only knows when it's going to get better. It definitely won't be this year. The way they're playing now, I highly doubt they'll even beat Duke or Stanford.

We are young. The ship will right!!

Now you are going to bring logic and common sense into the equation? Well, that's one way to get rid of the Buckeye fans, I guess.

This is fucking ridiculous you all call yourselves fans and yet you come on to the excuse of a thread to bash the team you supposedly love and support? Just be patient and CW will get things turned around. Ty Willingham was ran out early and now he has nearly turned around what was a horrible team in the Huskies. What do you say if Weis gets ran out this year and three years from know he at another school and has them competing for a National Title. That just gives the haters something else to spout off about. I say if after 5-6 years still no title then maybe get someone else in the but we cant run consecutive coaches out prematurely. Everybody needs to calm down and light one up!!!!
