Layne was such a special talent!Been circling back on AiC lately. Recently went down a Layne Staley rabbit hole recently and never quite came back. The algorithm got me.
Agreed. Like many others from that scene (and industry for that matter), gone way way too soon. I hadn't realized that he hadn't really produced much new material for quite a while before his death. Another "What could have been?". Sad.Layne was such a special talent!
1, AiCListened to more AiC than Nirvana back in those days.
I feel like STP and the Pumpkins were underrated. Soundgarden too.1, AiC
2, STP
3, Pearl Jam
4, Smashing Pumpkins
5, Nirvana
IMO
Now, I know arguments can be made about they aren't all the same genre, especially the Pumpkins, but yeah.
Well if we include Soundgarden, which we should, that drops Nirvana even more haha.I feel like STP and the Pumpkins were underrated. Soundgarden too.

Seriously, though. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like to have been in Seattle around 1990 when all these INCREDIBLE bands were percolating.
don’t forget Mother Love Bone. I know they didn’t release a lot of material due to Andrew Wood’s death but the remnants of that band created PJ & then Chris Cornell approached them w/ the idea of Temple of the Dog that paid tribute to Wood.Y’alls crazy.

Temple of the Dog only has 1 album, but god it’s good.don’t forget Mother Love Bone. I know they didn’t release a lot of material due to Andrew Wood’s death but the remnants of that band created PJ & then Chris Cornell approached them w/ the idea of Temple of the Dog that paid tribute to Wood.
Loved the movie “Singles” too that highlighted Seattle during that halcyon era.
SIDE NOTE: Duff McKagan of G’n’R was from Seattle as well and has connections & friendships w/ some of those guys.
It’s just crazy to me that so much homegrown talent came out of western Washington all at the same time! They literally changed popular rock music.don’t forget Mother Love Bone. I know they didn’t release a lot of material due to Andrew Wood’s death but the remnants of that band created PJ & then Chris Cornell approached them w/ the idea of Temple of the Dog that paid tribute to Wood.

Duff’s band Loaded put out some good tunes.don’t forget Mother Love Bone. I know they didn’t release a lot of material due to Andrew Wood’s death but the remnants of that band created PJ & then Chris Cornell approached them w/ the idea of Temple of the Dog that paid tribute to Wood.

I saw them open for Smashing Pumpkins last year, didn't know much about them. They sounded fukcing amazing.I saw one of my favorite bands, Interpol, last night at The Salt Shed in Chicago. They put on a really outstanding show. I was able to get pretty close to the stage, but I’m not sure how much longer my knees can handle standing for a 2.5 hour show.
What got me out of rap in grade school:Y’alls crazy.

Apparently he could play basketball at a pretty high level, too.I never really got Prince. I understand that he was a really great guitar player. But the songs, meh for me. Am i wrong?
