LOL...the rumors are flying. I heard the UCLA DC rejected the offer.

feeling out his interest is (which is what the irish illustrated lead in referred to, and what we're all referencing now) does not necessarily mean that an offer was made. it sounds bad to say that he rejected an offer when we don't even know if he was offered the gig in the first place.

Notre Dame contacted UCLA defensive coordinator ç last month about joining the Irish coaching staff, Irish Illustrated has learned. The Bruins assistant has decided to stay put in Los Angeles.

I think it was more than a feeler. If he was not being offered the DC position what position you think he was being offered. Grounds keeper? I think it's much deeper than that. Also, being that it was over a month ago this is not a knee jerk reaction.

This seems like it could be an announcement of a new hire(s). Coach Weis does not seem like a guy that would cut and run, before his job is done. Besides if he was leaving for an NFL team, that team would be the one conducting the press conference.

If I remember correctly weren't Edwards and Donald guys being recruited by Minter, this could be a reason why they decided to go eslewhere. Now that the championship game has come and gone, other schools can make announcements that pertain to their teams.

Maybe they are trying to get a new DC in by LOI day. They would be great if some of these lost recruits jump ship to come back to ND. I wonder what the chances are?

That's why I said rumors are flying. We won't know ANYTHING until we know it.

I remember when Gruden/Shanahan/Meyer were all committed to the Administration to take the ND job. ;)

Ben and Donald were recruited by Minter. Harrison Smith was also recruited by Minter. I hope he doesn't leave if Minter goes.

I hope we get a new DC. I'm telling you. No "elite" recruit wants to come to ND and be ranked 75th in team defense when he can go to UofM, USC, OSU, UT, OSU, etc.and be ranked in the top 10 all four years of his career.
