In what turned out to be the seconed commitment of the day 6'8" TE Joseph Fauria from Crespi High School in Encino, CA verbally committed to the Irish this evening. Joseph is the seconed TE in the current class joining Kyle Rudolph, and is the also the 3rd highly rated recruit from southern California to commit to the Irish in the last 10 days.

I'm not sure about an offer, but I do know that he was being heavily recruited by them, and he was one of their top two TE targets along with Ayles. I know many schools didn't waste time offering lately because untill recently many thought he was a Colorado lock. I think just the fact that he is a highly rated recruit from the Trojans backyard, but he is now headed to Notre Dame is still a pretty big deal because it opens the door even more for future recruits to do the same thing instead of feeling like they have to go to USC.

I read in an article he went there( USC ) for junior day or something and the coaches barley gave him any attention at all. He was recruited by them, but not heavy at all from the different articles i've read on him talking about USC. They figure Ayles is a lock, which he is. No reason to be pursuing many other TE's very hard.

I agree--I don't think it's fair to say that we stole one from USC--lots of other big Pac 10 schools, yes. I'd much rather have him here than at UCLA. Still it's great to make further inroads into southern California.

Phew we better hope mike brey doesnt try and steal this guy. 6-8 tightend and 6-7 tight ends. That could be a redzone nightmare for opposing teams
