Golden Expectations

It has often been said that the three most difficult jobs in this country are the Mayor of New York City, President of the United States, and head football coach at the University of Notre Dame. When the chips were down, Charlie Weis stepped into this notoriously thankless job and in one year has fans believing that a trip to the Fiesta Bowl is in order. With such expectations being so lofty, it will be interesting to see how this season plays out in South Bend.

Weis stepped into the job last year after this once heralded program suffered three lackluster seasons under Tyrone Willingham. Since then, Weis has proven to be everything a Notre Dame fan could ever want. He had a descent win/loss record of 9-3, took them to a BCS bowl game, and, most importantly, has reinstated the winning attitude which has been missing at Notre Dame for a long time.

If that's your page, it needs some work. I stopped reading at decent/descent. So an editor or just more careful proofreading is in order. Next up, the name is bad. Finally, probably most importantly, the layout is just really bad. It's like a geocities page circa 1998.

People is always quick to put someone down. Any site devoted to Notre Dame is a great site.

No, not really. THIS and several others are good boards/sites devoted to ND. But a crummy site devoted to ND is still a crummy site; considering how many Irish sites there already are, and how many good ones, if you're bent on making one, make it good.

And that was the most constructive criticism you could ask for. I told him to fix his layout so it's not 9 years out of date, proofread his articles so embarrassing misspellings don't show up (in the first few lines, no less), and to perhaps consider a name change.

im with you ny brother man if we lose a game this year its gonna be harder to take then any other year but on the other hand we have cw and i think its only a matter of time before we win it all a couple times i dont expect to win every game for the next 10 years but gosh would it be great im just so excited its not even funny my little brothers is 14 and he is like you soulnd like a little kid and he is right man cw has me rejuvinated beyond words

where is your page you worthless piece of crap? That comment had nothing to do with the post instead it was a direct insult to his page. You didnt need to say, keep your mindless comments to yourself!

1. As a high schooler I had a better looking web page than that. And I had no skills whatsoever with designing web pages.

2. It had plenty to do with the post. The post was a link to an article on what is presumably this guy's site. It was a thinly disguised plug for his site. It was a horrible site. What's next, linking to articles we wrote on our blogs as if they're from legitimate sites? Besides that, it wasn't an insult of his page. It was a constructive criticism, and it was fair and correct. I would hope if I were maintaining a page that someone would give me similar criticism if I deserved it. A lot of "great page man!" or "yea right on!" or "Go Irish!" posts won't help him make his web page presentable.

3. It's a messageboard. My comments criticizing his web page have as much a place here as your comments (your much more insulting and angry comments) criticizing me.

man why did i take you off my ignore list waldo your a cocky little prick since you like to analize every ones posts how bout this the only reason some one puts down some one else is because their live is garbage and they have to make others feal bad so there miserable lives dont feal as bad your an arrogant asshole and just because your an irish fan doesnt mean your any kind of friend of mine 99 percent of the people based on there comments on ie alone i would welcome in to my house maybe thats stupid but you couldnt even eat with the dogs out back im glad i took you off my ignore list i was fealing bad like i should give you a chance to say what you want but making others feal bad for your self to feal good is bullshit

Give me a break.

The guy has been a member here for almost a month. He's got TWO posts. Both posts are the same link to the same article on his web page. All available evidence indicates that he's here to advertise his page, and for no other reason. Considering that, his page is fair game. And it's a bad page. It's a lousy idea, a lousy site name, a REALLY lousy layout, and the article had so many misspellings and solecisms in its first few paragraphs that I didn't finish it - though I'm sure it was also a lousy article. He invited that kind of criticism by posting here with the sole purpose of advertising his web page. If you're going to go around the internet as a billboard for something, people have every right to discuss the merits of that thing.
