While not directly related to you fine people over here at Irishenvy, just curious as to what your thoughts are for the game tomorrow evening in Happy Valley? I think it should be a good game, PSU always a tough place to play, especially at night when the entire stadium has been drinking Kool-aid (oh yeah) all day. Clearly, I'm taking Ohio State but I think that they have the stronger defense and an offense that wont be one demensional like Penn States will be all night.

There are some other games out there that should be good as well! Cal-Arizona St, Oregon-USC, Rutgers-South Florida, Georgia-Florida

Some real good games this weekend, should be a good saturday of football

Take care and Enjoy!

This one wont even be close. Joe Pa wouldn't hear your defense about how you consentually raped a girl? Oh yeah? Poor you, the audacity of someone to ruin your NFL career after you raped her.

Ohio State 38
Penn State 3

Oh, and Boeckmann is Heisman material if Troy Smith ever was (I know I already posted this, but still ...):

Boeckman for heisman. I'm on it. Troy Smith had Ginn and Gonzalez (two first round receivers) and Hall (another NFL draft pick receiver) plus and emerging Robieski.

Granted, Boeckman has the services of one mr. beanie wells who is not only a monster, he's fast too. Wells is the best runningback in college football.

Dont get too far ahead of yourself Jonny...those are mere "projections" of what his stats will be come seasons end. If you've watched any Ohio State games thus far you realize that Todd Boeckman just doesnt control the game well, too many ill-advised TO's at inopportune times, in fact he has already surpassed Troy Smith's INT number from last season and we still have 4 games to go. I know what you are trying to get at by posting the comparison but in no way, shape, or form is Todd Boeckman the QB and leader that Troy Smith was (and dont try to say he's better either).

Troy Smith never mustered anything against Penn State. I'm curious to see what Boeckman(n) can do.

Well come on, you know I was (pretty much) kidding, right? I know they're just projections, and I know they could very well tail off. He could also improve, though. Heck, the kid's just a (23-year-old!) junior ...

I know Boeckman isn't better than Smith. I suppose I also don't think he's THAT much worse, though, and I CERTAINLY don't think TS deserved the Heisman last year. (It's that last point that's the crucial one.)

Chris Weinke won one, and he wasn't even 30 yet.

OSU vs PSU

OSU vs PSU

YOu guys obviously have never been to a night game at PSU. Possibly the hardest place to play. Penn State has a very good run defense so OSU will be slowed down on the run and won't have that to easilly play action off of. The place will be nuts. PSU has won 4 of the last 6 vs OSU at home for a reason.

I WILL BE THERE!

PSU 20
OSU 17

I don't like either team at all, but I think PSU wins a close one. Ohio St. hasn't played anybody yet. I don't think OSU can blow PSU out.

I'd rather have McFadden. Wells is prone to limping off of the field. I know he hasn't missed a lot of time, but he will. I understand that you probably mean healthy, he is the best running back in college football, but staying healthy is part of being the best.

I think many here are giving OSU too much credit. Penn State isn't a great team, but neither is OSU, as far as we know, at this point. Yes they've been "impressive," but other than winning the Ohio community colleges round-robin tournament that they scheduled they haven't really done anything this year yet.

OSU may very well come out and prove to be the real deal, but I think it's just as likely that they're not. I'm guessing this game is going to be pretty close.

PSU - 24
OSU -17

I like the way that people are still saying the OSU hasn't played anybody yet. If this is the case has any team played a good team this year. This game will open the eyes of the entire country as they see how good Ohio State actually is.

SoS through Oct 21:

LSU - 10th
USF - 8th
Florida - 6th
Oregon - 26th
Ohio State - 71st

So, um.....yes; other teams have played a "good team" or two.

Exactly what I was thinking.

This is the same thing people did to ND last year and the year before. When you beat teams, they become nobodies.

This is a cop out. It's like me saying Ohio State may win the national title this year, or there might be some bumps along the way causing them to lose some games.

Ohio state is responsible for 8 of it's opponents loses. Could any of the other teams in this post say the same.

It's not a cop out. If it were I wouldn't have put down a prediction for the game.

I'm not claiming that OSU is definitely not a good team; just that we don't really have any way of really knowing yet. Recognizing the reality of the situation is not a cop out.

Yeah, and that would be 8 games out of 64 that they have influenced, and we're not talking about a SoS of 71st vs a SoS of 70th here.

Those other teams have likewise influenced 7 or 6 games of their opponents, so OSU has influenced 1 or 2 more games in their SoS than these other teams, yet the SoS difference is vast.

Just so you know.

I wasn't trying to be condescending, it's an oversight most people miss and I try to explain it over and over when people point to numbers as reasons why the SEC is superior. I apologize if i offended you.

edit: i mean if i came off that way.

Regardless of tOSU's schedule, I don't think people are over-hyping them. They may not have played an LSU or USC or Oklahoma yet, but they haven't exactly played Buffalo every week either. They have a very good defense. Even playing no one, these are college kids...........mediocre teams usually have at least one poorly played game, generally occuring towards the beginning of the season. Ohio State's defense has NOT done that. They have dominated thus far. Ohio State's defensive rankings, as of today:

Total Defense: 1st (208.5 ypg)
Rush Defense: 2nd (62.4 ypg)
Pass Defense: 2nd (146.1 ypg)
Scoring Defense: 1st (7.9 ppg)

You don't wind up 1st or second in each major category if you have a bad game or two. This is why people are high on tOSU, and deservedly so. Do these rankings mean no one can move the ball on them? No. Maybe a great offensive team WILL put up 30 on them. But you the thing is: The numbers show that tOSU's defense is damn good, at worst. At worst!! Offensively? Not so good. But, when Chris Wells is healthy, they can move the ball with some efficiency. This team is reminiscent of the 2002 team. GREAT defense, and just enough offense. I think that's why most people are loving on the Buckeyes, and deservedly so, if you ask me.
