Current BCS Standings

1. Ohio State .9864
2. Michigan .9697
3. West Virginia .7862
4. Florida .7791
5. Louisville .7621
6. Auburn .7589
7. Texas .7562
8. USC .7152
9. Notre Dame .7151
10. California .7133
11. Tennessee .7000
12. Rutgers .5153

West Virginia will fall after this week. far. they were ranked 13th by the computers, where as Notre Dame was ranked 5th. They will fall out of the top 10 in the BCS. Unfortunately for Notre Dame, no one else above us has a challenging game this week. Assuming that Tennessee loses to LSU tonight, then the BCS rankings will most likely be as follows next week:

1. Ohio State
2. Michigan
3. Louisville
4. Florida
5. Auburn
6. Texas
7. Notre Dame (we will jump USC after beating North Carolina)
8. USC
9. California
10. West Virginia
11. Rutgers

This week, we will be playing against Air Force. Luckily for us, there are much tougher games for teams ranked ahead of us this week. Ohio State and Michigan should keep on winning, but Louisville is playing at Rutgers. I dont know about you, but I think that Rutgers has a very good chabce of keeping their undefeated season going. Also, Florida is playing against South Carolina, and Auburn is playing against Georgia. Now, we all know that many things will have to go right for us, so let's just assume that Louisville loses and so does Florida. The BCS Rankings would be as follows:

1. Ohio State
2. Michigan
3. Auburn
4. Texas
5. USC (they will jump us after beating Oregon)
6. Notre Dame
7. Rutgers
8. California
9. West Virgina

In this week, we are playing against Army. This is a big week for us. Ohio State is playing Michigan. Auburn is playing at Alabama, and California is playing at USC. We all know that as bad as it sounds, we need Michigan to win, and win big. Also, we need USC to beat California. Assuming that Michigan, USC, and Alabama all win, the rankings would be:

1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. USC
4. Texas
5. Notre Dame
6. Rutgers
7. West Virginia

Although the rankings will first come out like this, no one will want to see a OSU-Michigan rematch, so expect to see Ohio State drop more two weeks after this game, then right after it. This week, we play USC. Texas plays against Texas A@M. We need to win this game obviously, and Texas will beat A@M. The rankings would be:

1. Michigan
2. Texas
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. Rutgers
6. West Virginia

This week, the only meaningful game is Rutgers at West Virginia. We need West Virginia to win this game, and assuming they do, the rankings would be:

1. Michigan
2. Texas
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame

This week is the Conference Championship Games. Texas will most likely be playing against Nebraska. We need them to lose obviously and if they do the rankings will be:

1. Michigan
2. Notre Dame
3. Ohio State

You're probably wondering why the rankings would be like this. If the Michigan-OSU game is as lopsided as I am hoping that it will be, then no one will want to see a rematch. It will seem unlikely, but the voters will change the ranking of Notre Dame and Ohio State even if both of them aren't playing.

Well this all seems impossible I'm sure, but here's what we need to have happen week by week:

11/4: LSU beats Tennessee
11/11: Rutgers beat Louisville
South Carolina beats Florida
11/18: Michigan destroys Ohio State
USC beats California
Alabama beats Auburn
11/25: Notre Dame beats USC
Texas beats Texas A@M
12/2: West Virginia beats Rutgers
Conference Championship: Texas loses

Very, very nice, my friend. You sure did take a lot of time to do this, but it looks good nonetheless. I hope your optimism pulls through for us....

Nice post.
But...watch for Oklahoma St. to give Texas a good run for their money today.
The scenario might be even rosier than you site. Let's hope and root for more upsets.

In the highly unlikely event that this happens, you will go into the championship game as the most undeserving team to make it to the title game in college football history.

I don't know. I still say we can score with anybody in college football.
But can we stop anybody is the question.
Defensive backfield is up and down week to week.

That's not the point. When was the last time a one-loss team slipped into the title game after losing by 26? I don't think it's happened for a long, long time.

And you're scoring against North Carolina, Navy and other crappy teams. Where was the offense against GTech (14 points), Michigan (21 points) and UCLA (20 points) or even the first three quarters of MSU. The only time the offense performed well was against listless PSU, who will be the most overrated 8-4 team in the country when it's all said and done.

Only when Brady Quinn has a good game against USC should he be considered for the Heisman.

well, no team has ever lost by 26 and went to the bcs championship game, if that's what you're getting at.

and we can debate the strength of schedule all day. sagarin has ND's sos at 13, which i'd say is pretty good, but that's besides the point. if you look at the offenses of the top ten, i'd say notre dame is better than five of them, at least.

and if all of the circumstances put forth get met, yeah, notre dame wouldn't really be deserving of the title game, but find a more deserving #2.

And with regards to Quinn: nobody said that he should be considered for the heisman if he doesn't have a good game against USC. I think we all realize that it's just not going to happen if ND doesn't win that game and Quinn doesn't have a big game.

Brady Quinn is now my Heisman frontrunner after today. Troy Smith might not have laid an egg, but he got Brady into this thing a little bit more with a less than impressive performance against Illinois.

OSU is still #1 as a team.

Someone needs to explain 34-26 vs. Ball State to me. I didn't see the game...did they play their twos? What the hell was going on there?

Illinois was Smith's equivalent of Quinn's MSU game without the dramatic 4th Q. Quinn, 23/35 346 4 0, should pick up some ground his QB Eff Rating was 186.5 while Smith, 13/23 108 0 1, QB Rating was an aemic 87.3.

Smith started out 4/5 with 42 yds on the first drive and was 9/18 for 66 yds for the rest of the game. The mobile Smith was sacked 3 times, same as the leadfooted Quinn who plays behind an inconsistent OLine. Mighty Illinois, with one more win than UNC, held Smith and the Buckeyes to its fewest points, total yards and passing yards this season.

Smith will win or lose with the UM game.

Nice workup through a Blue and Gold crystal ball. ND still has a chance but it's slim and our former opponents didn't help us much today.

ND shouldn't jump USC as the Trojans clobbered Stanford 42-0 while ND beat Stanford by 21, 31-10.

We beat UCLA on a last game play while CAL beat them by 14. ND held UCLAto a TD less but CAL scored 18 points more. CAL actually could move ahead of ND this week or next week with a win over USC.

I think WVU and LOU should be rated below ND but the pollsters haven't felt that way most of the season. However inconsistent ND's defense has been Thursday night WVU showed they have no concept of pass coverage while LOU showed they have no concept of tackling a ball carrier. Slaton would have run for another 100 yards if he didn't keep fumbling. Bottom line WVU will fall but MAY stay ahead of ND in the voter polls while their strength of schedule will rise. BC, UTN, and the others that lost may soften WVU fall (as may those trying to keep ND out the Top 8 for an automatic BCS selection).

Neither UF nor AUB had impressive wins (27-0 over Arkansas STATE isn't impressive). ND scored big but also allowed a lot of points. The computers don't care about M.O.V. just Wins. The poll voters do but if they only watched the ESPN highlights than ND looked better.

Bottom line I doubt ND rises to 7 and could actually lose a place.

You're right, it won't happen.
Throw a little more hyperbole on top of all these damn political ads I've been force fed this last month why don't ya.

GTech - 1st game out. Every team in America sucked in week 1.
Michigan - Best defense in college football.
UCLA - Brady Quinn sucked in that game.

I might be wrong but I still believe ND's offense, if it's clicking, can score with anyone in college football and thus, on any given Saturday, can beat anyone in America.
But, you're right it's NOT a national championship caliber team.

Actually it happened just a few years ago. In 2001, Nebraska lost to Colorado 62-36. (exactly 26 points, and it happened in the Conference Championship) And more recently in 2003, Oklahoma lost to Kansas State 35-7. (also in the Conference Championship game, this time by 28 points) Bottom line, both of these teams made it into the National Championship after losing a game by 26 or more points. So nice try VV

ND isn't the only team this year that suffered a bad loss yet still has a chance at a NC. Cal, and Texas got hammered in ther losses this year too and both have a better chance than ND at making it to a NC so I don't understand your point.

A standard vv trolling ploy exposed - again. Posting a self supporting statement that implies that something can't be done when it already has.

Eh-hem....

In 1984, BYU was crowned the national champion after vanquishing the mighty wolverines in the Holiday Bowl. UM went 6-5 during the regular season and finished 6th in the big ten standings, evidently enough to earn a bowl bid against a suspect, albeit undefeated, BYU team.

Granted, there was no BCS formula in 1984. But in the modern era, a 6-5 scUM team is undisputedly the most undeserving team to play in the title game.

MY LITTLE DANCING HATER MONKEY IS BACK!!!

DANCE MONKEY DANCE!!

In this latest performance, the DHM has come out of mom's basement to dance for everyone in the living room. Ya know, put on a special little show for the family.

The motivation for this piece is "STATING THE OBVIOUS"!

Again, not my favorite piece, but a fun little number nonetheless. Now get back to work my little DANCING HATER MONKEY!

thanks. well hopefully they drop far like west virginia did. not to mention we cant have rutgers jump us in the bcs either. it's going to be interesting to see what order the 3 big east teams will be in when the bcs standings are released this sunday. let's just hope that they all are ranked below ND

Listening to the ridiculous arguments "experts" are making for various teams is annoying.

Texas' best win is against the #17 ranked team. The lost big at home to the #1 team. Their sos is ranked #42. They deserve to be in.

ND's best win is against the #19 ranked team. They lost big at home to the #2 team. Their SOS is ranked 324. They don't desrve to be in.

Rutgers is 9-0. Their best win is against the #3 team in the country(in conference). They have the 2nd ranked d in the country. If they beat WVU(another top 10 in conference) they finish undefeated with 2 wins over top 10 teams. They don't deserve to be in.

Florida's best 2 wins were against the #12 and #16 ranked in conference teams. They lost to a top 10 team Auburn. They deserve to be in.

Arkansas is leading their division. There only loss is to a top 10 team. They beat a top 10 in conference team big on the road(Auburn). Auburn beat Florida. Arkansas doesn't deserve to be in.

Am I missing something?
