Pregame covers some kid named Troy Aikman lighting up Nebraska... Ara does the in studio commentary and the talk is about Michigan and Notre Dame's all time wins (as always) and how in the world can Notre Dame overcome losing Tim Brown and play with the mighty Wolverines?.... the ND offensive line is too young and inexperienced...

let that sit for a second.... the good old days are just that... and sometimes glory is closer than it seems.

Go Irish

that was my first game I ever watched! I barely remember it because I was only 7. That game started it all!

God I love this team! I cannot wait to for next season! Their will be so much to discuss until then.

ha! you were younger than me and I wasn't ND yet... I became a fan shortly after they won it (not b/c they won it I just liked them for some reason) and was almost instantly die hard from the 89 season on... the 3 and forever game vs. Miami was my first Cleveland Browns like heartbreak and I've been Irish ever since

What a great time, i remember the game too, fondly. I was hoping we can turn around so quickly, even tough we knew Jimmy was gone. Now we have to contend with the loss of Tate, as well.

The good news is that we should get to see heavier doses or Goodman, Shaq, Walker, etc.

I was eight years old... well known to football and I THINK I was already an Irish fan (I think I liked the shiny helmets...lol) but I don't remember a thing from that season... my first memories of cfb and my love of the irish was the 3rd and forever game... broke my heart...

I WAS already obsessed with the browns though and had already been through the drive and the fumble and remember both totally... funny, I am as close to being done with the NFL as a football fan can be now... and cfb is by far my favorite sport even though I think baseball is a better more interesting game as a whole... cfb jsut has 'it' and that's why I say a playoff ain't the solution to the obvious problem... cfb is just so interesting and Notre Dame is literally like family or a part of me... or so than the Pens Browns or even Angels...

Go Irish

Based simply on what we have seen, so far, I would hardly classify that as GOOD news.

I remember that game. I remember worrying about Tim Brown being gone and then boom, Ricky Watters takes it to the house. My dad went to ND and graduated the year of the Mich. St. tie. I remember wearing a pin that said "Faust" in a red circle with a slash through it. Ahh, the good ole days.

It's kind of funny how those games are what cement people's fanhood. My feelings always grow stronger for my teams after they lose tough games or tough series. It's weird.

Yesterday I saw the 1987 game ND vs. Michigan State, That's the game that Tim Brown ran back 2 punt returns, 1 for 70 yards & 1 for 66 yards, I never realize how good he was, just like rocket but he was bigger. ND won 31-8. Man the Defense was awesome in that game....

That was the year I fell in love with this team. Tony Rice was a God to me. I haven't seen anyone else run the option like him.

Great conversation guys. Im 34, I guess im a little older than you guys but the game that really started it all was an epic comeback against USC in November 1986, Lou's first year.

I'll never forget it because John Carney made a field goal to win it while ABC was still on commercial break!! It came back live and ND was celebrating at mid field. John Carneyt is still in the NFL!!! Its insane to see how long ago that game was played and knowing a guy is still in the NFL from that team.
