So how EXACTLY does one go about making a video and adding music to the background anyway? I have always been interested in trying to make some of my own. Any help would be appreciated

Youtube downloader and a simple editing program.. depending on whether you use a mac or pc.

You can download any videos off youtube and import them into your editing program.. cut your scenes, add music.. stir and bring to a boil.. waalaah!!

Or you can try it the way Im going to this season. DVR every game, burn them HD onto DVDs and then convert it to mpeg or fcp files to edit in Final Cut Pro. Im going to try and make a video highlighting the whole season.. and hopefully a BCS game.

1. find a song. i always do this first, because the song is really what decides the video. at least for me, where i try to have the video flow with the song
2. find highlights on youtube and download them (i use savevid.com. it's really simple.). the thing about finding videos is that it's tough to find ones that you can use and not look like you stole them. the toughest ones to find are the ones that are JUST highlights, with the radio or TV announcer's calls on them, and no music. those are GOLDEN for editing because you can have the call, which really makes it better IMO, and there's no music in the background from another video. You can tell when you're watching my videos which ones I could find videos with calls for. Any one with a call in the background was one of the rare ones with a call and no music--i try to use those as often as possible, which is hard b/c they're rare.
3. edit on moviemaker or imovie. I use imovie, but i've used moviemaker too and it's basically the same. they're both incredibly simple. it's really not worth buying a legit professional editing software unless you need it for a job or something. i'm not shelling out $100+ to buy something i'll only use for fun a few times a year.
4. youtube it.

i'm an artistic person, so i put much more time into my videos than a lot of people do. if you notice, mine are a lot more complicated and i really try to get my videos to flow with the music, not just throw a couple highlights in and call it a day. but to each his own.

hope that helped.

go irish! 4 MORE DAYYSSS
