EXACTLY! I started alot of kick-ass threads because I wanted money. This is why it's done, and a sports book that gives away money makes it pointless.

Everything becomes pointless when there is so much money floting around, plus it may discourage newer members from participating as much when they see everyone around them with such staggering figures. Back before I was a mod I made most of my money through posting, creating threads that sparked long conversations, and bank interest. Mostly because there wasn't anyone running the sports book, and because I really didn't want to spend my hard earned money on lottery tickets.

Everyone has their own V-Success story. I think if we add lines in people will not have such an easy time climbing the financial latter.

I had none, someone else had a trillion, I was like DAMN I want to hit that.. It made me work a little harder etc etc. Not to mention that some of the more wealthy people were pretty loose with the dough, and helped some of us slugs out along the way.
Whether we have 1000 or 1000000 doesnt matter imo. Is this going to happen EVERY TIME people get rich? Because if it is, then I am not even going to bother with the process.
Also, you should probably tie in to the Arcade. Get a high score get 1000 vbucks or something. Holding highscores for a week get another 1000.

Not going to happen everytime. This time was a bit unusual as there was some "tweaking" of Sportsbook and such. Sometimes people were set up to win big.

I would think it is the opposite affect... most would see it as a challange and would work to become more active to get money

Yes there is, and the last part you mentioned is very true, but it becomes untrue when there is way to much extra money floating around. They basically see it as impossible to gain that much and they resort to begging and nowadays people will give them several million at the drop of a hat because they have so much extra sitting around. That also opens up other problems like people being able to afford to buy over 1,700 posts, or tons of rep points.

I think another point that you and some others are missing is that this somehow up for debate or that we can be talked out of it. It had already been in discussion for a while and the final decision had been made. We just thought we wouild make sure that people knew it was comming so they had the cance to buy some stuff if they wanted and so everyone wouldn't freak out.

I was the richest user the last time this happened and I didn't have any previous warning. I just logged on one day and most of my money was gone and no I didn't freak out in case you were wondering.
