According to @NDatRivals
"Once USC's must-have recruits. Now Aztecs. RT @Schrotenboer Dillon Baxter (5-star) and WR Brice Butler (4-star) enrolled at San Diego State."
Kitten isn't doing so well right now.
This is ollllllldddddd news my friend. Kiffin is coming off a 10-2 season, his superstar QB is back along with MANY starters from last year's team, they will be ranked 1, 2, or 3 in most polls to start the year, and they are in on some top-level recruits, including many guys we wanted (Banner, Agholar, Murophy, Peat, etc).
So I'd say Kiffin is doing just fine. In 3 years? Probably not so much. But right now - he's doing better than good.
As for Baxter - knucklehead to the umpteenth degree. 5th on the depth chart behind Carlisle when he quit. And Butler was 2nd on the depth chart in the same way that John Goodman was 2nd on the depth chart for us. As long as Woods and Lee are there, Butler new he wasn't going to see the ball, period. Everyone knew he was leaving. So, these 2 recruits leaving actually helps USC b/c it frees up more schollies.
What hurts is losing Carlisle. And it will hurt more if they don't close on a RB. But they are likely going to get Agholar and Banner, and will probably pull a rabbit out of their asses on NSD like they always seem to do, unfortunately. Right now, many USC fans are up in arms because some of their recruits are looking elsewhere, but sadly, I think they'll be fine. If it's one thing Kiffy-boy and his staff can do, it's recruit.
They'll be really good this year. You won't see the decline until Barkley leaves and a couple kids get injured and a couple others just don't pan out and a couple others don't make it academically. THAT'S when you'll see the sanctions kick in and their deoth will take a major hit...
