Damn

What great fights. This event was much better than the last few.

I wasnt impressed with Bisbing. I expected FAR more than what he produced.

Jardine came out and did his work.

Arlovski seemed a bit lucky. - Stilll hasnt rebounded from the ghey silvia shit.

And most importantly...Liddell dictated.

Im a bit drunk sso I cant remember the rest, but I almost won the pool.

Yes very good nite of fights. I disagree Bisping was fighting his first UFC fight so came out probably a little nervous and he did win by knockout in the first round. He is going to be a good fighter for a long time. Arvloski did seem to get lucky because when the ref stopped the fight for the kick to the face it seemed like he got lucky having the chance to hit cruz real quick. Umm I was disappointed with Forrest really surprised with the way the dean of mean handled him. Congrats to Chuck on fighting his style of fight and stuffing titos takedown attempts. And its going to be badass having Rampage and Crocop in the UFC along with heath herring. Tomorrow we get to see Fedor dominate hunt and a bunch of other good fights!!

This UFC was by far the best in a while. I just watched the rerun and came away pleased. Was kinda pissed as well about the Griffin fight but I liked how he cried and got pissed off after, you know he is going to come back and kick ass. I would hate to be his next opponent.

I was also pissed about the Liddell fight, I was hoping for Tito to win but knew it would be tough. I like Chuck as well, he is by far in a class of his own. Glad it wasn't one and done thats for sure.

Bisbing nervous? Uh, not so sure of that. I wanted more out of him. I guess I expect more..

The reason Arlovski's punch wasnt cheap was because Cruz started moving around, went for hit leg, left his head WIDE open. I think the break ruined that match.

Tito looked overmatched. Nothing he did was working. The takedown even failed horribly.

I simply cannot wait for Mirko. He is a fuckin beast.

Great night of fights! definetly worth the money.

I thought Bisping showed real good defense against a much better ground fighter. He probably was a also little nervous fighting on such a big stage. But hes gonna be a good one.

I'm glad to see Arlovski is back to being a unshaved wolf man instead of the metrosexual pretty boy look that he was sporting.

I'm starting to like Joe Rogan as an announcer.

Just a good show IMO.

Well, then I'm really frightened because the Pit Bull was completely shaved down for the weigh-ins on Friday. He truly is a wolf man.

As for Liddell, I hate to be one of the proverbial Pride braggards, but I can name four 205ers off the top of my head who I would rank above Liddell - Shogun Rua, Vanderlai, Arona and Rampage Jackson, who's already knocked out Liddell. Frankly, Liddell's victory over Babalu is a hell of a lot more impressive than beating Tito.

I'll be interested to see if they throw Liddell in there with Cro Cop. That won't be pretty.

Wanderlei is still trying to count his own fingers after Mirko's Left Leg to the dome. I doubt he can take him.

Well, once Silva recovers, maybe the fight will happen. Silva has more tools - knees, elbows - than Liddell. Jackson should take him again if his head is on straight.

I'd rather see Cro Crop rid Sylvia of the title once and for all before embarking on destroying the lighter fighters. The UFC heavyweights are so weak that only Vera might present some sort of challenge, but I believe his status is up in the air. I had seen rumors that he was going to sign with Pride and that upstart organization set to have a deal with Showtime.

Bisping looked good, I thought he threw waaayyy to many kicks, which enabled Schaefer to take him down so easily...but i thought his ground and pound was solid...AA looked good, its pretty tough to knock someone out while on your back. I was mad that Forrest lost the way he did...i think if those guys fought 10 times they would probably split it 50/50, just wasnt Forrest's night. I was upset with Tito, his was soooo tense and scared, granted he was fighting a man with bricks in his gloves...he was running into the fence, his shoots were from waaayyy to far out. A good stoppage i thought...would like to see him fight Renalto. Rampage will probably beat Chuck..The way he was sooo dominate in their first fight, I just dont know if Chuck can do much better. Crocop will dominate the heavywieghts. I would like to see him fight AA...he is so versitile in that he can easily fight in either division.

I disagree, Liddell would beat all the guys you listed IMO. Liddell has beaten way better wrestlers then Arona and thats the only way he can beat Liddell, by taking him down. Wanderli beats up on Japanese tomato cans to much, he has been beaten a lot lately and has a very suspect chin. Shogun's standup is much to inferior to compete with Chuck. Rampage beat Chuck once but Chuck fought with a torn rotator cuff, when healthy I think he will knock him out. And Chuck wasn't knocked out by Rampage his corner through in the towel cause he gassed. Rampage even admitted in an interview Chuck hits harder then anyone hes ever faced. Chuck has already avenged 2 out of his 3 loses. I think the best possible person to beat chuck is some one with a really good chin and really good cardio.

Of course if crocop drops weight he can beat liddell. I also agree that Silva and Rampage both would take liddell. Shogun is very good but he didnt look to impressive to me in shockwave. I like liddell but when someone actually gets in the clinch and takes him down or trys a little harder than tito did on his single leg attempts. I really wish there was a unification of pride and ufc but that will probably never happen.

Silva's losses have been to bigger guys and he's beaten his fair share of bigger fighters. Any losses to 205ers has been by decision. As I said, Silva's the superior striker, especially on a technical level. He also has a superior ground game. If anything would favor Liddell, it would be a fight per UFC rules. I hate UFC rules. I hate the limitation on kicks to the head on the ground and I hate the round scoring. Put them in the ring, I don't think Liddell would last a round. Put them in the cage, Liddell has a chance.

I don't agree with your assessment of Arona. First of all, he's a complete grappler and one of the best submission guys on the planet, not a wrestler. Second, he has a great shot. He's not on the level of Randleman, but he's as good at takedowns as anyone Liddell has faced since Randleman, and that was a long time ago. And yes, I realize I'm including Randy Couture. Arona has an excellent chin and I think the cage might favor him in such a matchup.

Finally, review the tape of the Rampage-Liddell fight again. The reason Hackelman and company threw in the towel was that Chuck was getting pulverized on the canvas. It wasn't a matter of gassing. Some of the best body shots I've ever seen were delivered by Rampage. Chuck literally screamed in pain after a few of them. That was a thorough dismantling. The UFC belt awaits Jackson if he hasn't lost his edge.

The octagon is far better than the ring. I do think a variety of rules need to be changed, but in both sports.

Most of Silva's wins have also come against smaller guys like Sakuraba, Kondo, Henderson, Minowa, ect. He can't dominate when hes fighting a guy his own size. He is not a better technical striker then Liddell, Liddell was a former kick boxing champion and had a record of I believe 28-2. Silva's punches are loopy and perfect for a counter puncher who can throw strait punches like Vitor Belfort did. Silva is also to agressive he gets rocked constantly when he charges in. I just don't see how he can beat Liddell, Silva's aggression plays into Liddell's counter puncher style perfectly. Liddell has one of the best Chins in the game, Silva Doesn't. And Liddell could dictate the fight with his wrestling, if he wants it standing he has a good enough sprawl to do so and if he wants it on the ground he is a good enough wrestler to get it to the ground.

Liddell has faced great grappler's before, Monson, Bustamante, Babalou, Horn, ect, he has beat them all. He only lost that one time to Horn because he wasn't versed in the submission game and followed Horn to the ground where he shouldn't have, but he avenged that loss later. As good as Arona is he is not a better wrestler then Babalou, Ortiz, Coutore, and others Liddell has faced. I just think Chuck's sprawl is to could and Arona would get picked apart on his feet.

Chuck fought that fight against Rampage with a torn rotator cuff and still delivered a tough performance. Chuck never loses easy or gets dominated, even when he lost he still delivered a ton of punishment to Rampage. Rampage admittedly said he was extremely hurt after the fight and needed doctors attention. Chuck already avenged two of his three loses, I think he'll do the same hear.

The purpose of my post isn't to rip Liddell. He's a hell of a fighter. That said, I doubt any well-versed MMA analysts would agree with your characterization of Liddell's technicality. At best, Liddell's punches are described as "unorthodox" and his overhand haymaker thing is about as untechnical as you can get. Many times it's effective, but I don't think it will be against top-notch strikers. Actually, I think Anderson Silva could catch him if they were to match up. It's telling what Anderson Silva has done in his short time in the UFC. In Pride he was a notch below the best at his weight. In the UFC he exposed the supposed "great striker", Rich Franklin, and is the best striker in the UFC now. Cro Cop will illustrate the same deficiencies very soon, as well.

Vanderlei has serious Muay Thai skills that Liddell lacks. Silva certainly walks into his fair share of shots. Many more times than not, though, he keeps on his feet. The "Vanderlei has a glass chin" commentary is vastly overblown. He's lost to a couple of heavyweights in the best organization out there. Any losses in his weight class have been decisions. Big deal?

To even compare Tito Ortiz or Babalu's ground game and takedowns with Arona is crazy, IMO. Tito continues to look worse and though Babalu is a great fighter, he's not on the level of Arona. The only person Liddell's faced with better takedowns is Randleman, and there is no comparison in subs between Arona and Randleman.

I would agree that the more rules you add, specifically UFC rules, the better chance Liddell has in these matchups. The more rules you add, the more the resolution of who is the better fighter gets distorted. When head butts were eliminated, it took away a major weapon of the wrestlers and changed entirely how they must work within the guard. Take away kicks/knees to the head on the ground, and you take away a weapon of strikers and give an advantage to grapplers. I realize that to be sanctioned in the US, the UFC had to institute all these limitations. It's still a great product, but all things considered, I'd rather see Pride stay out of the US if it means accepting all these limitations.

I can agree with all that...Liddell is so efective because of the angles he takes with his punches...go back to the Ortiz fight and count the amount of times Chuch would stick and move while Tito would counter punch and hit no where near Chuck...I dont think Randelman has better takedowns than Randy though...Silva I think would do well bacause of his ability to fight in the clinch...weather or not he can get that close to Chuck is debatable...Anderson Silva is the best technical striker in the UFC, and I agree that when Crocop comes, he will expose many of the "best fighters" in the world that UFC claims to have.

Rampage now.. He's going after Chuck.

I'm actually looking forward to his fight with Travis Lutter. I think we'll really get to see Silva's ground game tested for the first time, and you know for a fact Lutter's too smart to try and stand up with him..

Silva has his bjj blackbelt under the Nogueira brothers...they are no joke on the ground, plus Silva does have 5 submission victories in his career, while they may not be as good of opponents as Luter...he is a well rounded fighter...Silva in rd1 due to strikes
