NDGR-there is some speculation that he is a candidate. I think he might be the third or fourth option. He is a comer, but he doesn't have the big name Michigan wants, nor does he have a solid recruiting past. He does well with what he gets tho, but I give him two more years at Cincy. But who knows.

UC football has much to be excited about, they are 9-3 this year, and looking to snag a decent bowl offer. As far as next year, they are looking pretty good.

OFFENSE
QB-Ben Mauk (senior) may/or not be granted another year due to medical. If not, Grutza is a more than servicable plan B. Of course, they always have (ours truly) DJ, or even Tony Pike. They are loaded at that position.
RB-Starter Jacob Ramsey is young, and fast. He gives them great quickness, and could be a star next year.
WR-Again, loaded with talented returnees. Marcus Barnett and Dominick Goodman are both playmakers, who start this year.
TE-My boy Connor Barwin (he played hoops last year) is a very solid TE who can block and receive.
OL-They lose 3 OL, but should be ok with decent depth at that position.

DEFENSE
They lose 5 starters on D (including Nakamura at S), but have much talent coming back
DL-Terrill Byrd and Adam Hoppel are mainstays at that position, so this should be solid.
LB-Ryan Manalac (is awesome), Corey Smith, and Andre Revels all return to give them a very solid LB corp.
DB-They lose some, but still return DeAngelo Smith and Mike Mickens. Both are big play guys. There are 5 others who return who see some serious snaptime.
P-Keven Huber returns, who leads the nation in punting.

Let's say the excitement in Cincy returns next year, whether or not Brian Kelly is the coach, which I think he will be. But then again, ya never know.

I hope he returns...does his contract make it difficult for him to leave? I hope the University and City give him what he needs to continue to build the program. I will definately be renewing my season tickets next year. Nippert is a great place to watch a game and the product on the field was definately worth the $120 bucks I spent for the two seats all year.

Do you know anything about how they have been able to recruit? I have not found a great forum for Bearcat sports.

I believe Kelly sticks around UC for a few more years. He is making a name for himself and can keep adding to his resume while building UC into a BE contender yr. after yr.

The UC football team just got hosed.
1530HOMER - The Sports Animal! Official Home Of The Cincinnati Bengals

UC has its best season in over 50-years....finishes 9-3....beats three Top 25 teams, winds up ranked and their reward is the PapaJohns.com bowl vs a CUSA team?
I get that UCONN finished 5-2 to UC's 4-3 in the Big East. But I also get they both finished 9-3 and UC beat UCONN, and UC wound up ranked in the polls and BCS and UCONN did not.
Don't give me this crap about UCONN traveling well. They turned in almost all their tickets for the UC game.
The irony is that UC escapes CUSA for bigger and better things. This stuff happens to a CUSA team, not a Big East team. And to add insult to injury, UC gets to play a CUSA team in a dotcom bowl. Brilliant.
This is a mess the Big East must fix when the bowl contracts come up.
A 9-3 Big East team shouldn't wind up in the bowl with the smallest payout of the 32 bowls. ($300,000)

I get that Cincy hasn't had much fan support (which is a no brainer), but they are a top 20 team, and should get a decent bowl. Hell, KY has fans that will travel and would get a pretty darn good bowl if they had the same record/conference as UC.

Be prepared world, UC is coming.

Yeah but they will still be looked down upon by the so called power conferences. Even though when the big boys play a team in a bowl from the BE they find out that they are better than what they thought. One day hopefuuly soon the BE football teams will be given credit.

Well, The SEC is never going to give any credit to other conferences. I live in SEC country and to SEC fans, if you don't play in the SEC, you don't play anybody.

In football news....Kelly was named Big East coach of the year. Too bad he only got the lowest paying bowl, the pizza bowl.

My bearcats are hanging tough with #2 Memphis, only down by 7 with 3:00 to go. Even when they lose, it is still a very good showing by a team that has had a rough 2 years. Good job, fellas.
