theres nothing really to get out of. kids make bad decisions and it affects the rep of the school and their coach. tressel cannot be with them all of the time and he's not responsible for babysitting them. none of these arrests/getting in trouble have anything to do with tressel doing anything wrong, with the exception of the clarrett allegations, who by the way is getting a mental exam. so i dont see any "fire" that has to be found.
While I'm sure that Mo spouted a lot of lies about OSU there's always some truth in every lie. I don't think Tressel or tOSU is as white as snow. I'm sure Mo got some "special" treatment.

I'm sorry, but 15 arrests in 3 years? That's a bit much. Find me another college football team in that same 3-year window that had that many arrests.

You are actually correct when you say that it's not Tressel's responsibility to babysit his players. However, after 15 arrests, maybe it's time for him to step up and MAKE it his responsibility.

I don't go so far as to call Tressel things like "Cheatey McSweatervest" or some of the other nicknames I've seen lobbed at him, because I just don't get the impression that he's turning a blind eye to this stuff. However, he is simply being way too soft and way too nice. His motives may be sound, and yeah sometimes a good kid does something royally stupid and deserves a second chance. But not everyone deserves that second chance. It's Tressel's job to figure out which kids will take that second chance and get it right, and which kids will take that second chance as nothing more than an opportunity to prolong their bad behavior. And at that, Tressel has failed miserably thus far.

It comes down to Tressel making the determination that winning, and winning at all costs, is the most important thing. Even if it gives the university a black eye in the future, if OSU keeps winning, nobody at OSU really cares. However, if OSU were to have 3 or 4 seasons with 3 or so losses, expect Tressel to come under fire for all the problems associated with his players. He won't come under fire while the team is winning though.

Very good point, I think the same will hold true at USC.

I came from a Notre Dame 1, Ohio State 2 household. I have to admit I'm a little bit disappointed by that rap sheet posted earlier. Stunned, really. These acts are selfish. Selfish towards the team, the coaches, the school and especially towards each guy himself.

Why involve yourself in unnecessary risks that would jeopardize your future on the field and in the classroom? How difficult is it to be a decent human being?

I wonder sometimes.

The Useless Nuts have supplanted USC and Miami as the choice for college football's thugz.

It is pretty tough to compete with the character care bears that are Leinart, Bush, White, Justice, Byrd, Bing and Rucker.

OSU, USC and Miami all churn guys out to the NFL each and every year. Which of the three produces the most disciplined players?

I have no idea.
