theres nothing really to get out of. kids make bad decisions and it affects the rep of the school and their coach. tressel cannot be with them all of the time and he's not responsible for babysitting them. none of these arrests/getting in trouble have anything to do with tressel doing anything wrong, with the exception of the clarrett allegations, who by the way is getting a mental exam. so i dont see any "fire" that has to be found.
I'm sorry, but 15 arrests in 3 years? That's a bit much. Find me another college football team in that same 3-year window that had that many arrests.
You are actually correct when you say that it's not Tressel's responsibility to babysit his players. However, after 15 arrests, maybe it's time for him to step up and MAKE it his responsibility.
I don't go so far as to call Tressel things like "Cheatey McSweatervest" or some of the other nicknames I've seen lobbed at him, because I just don't get the impression that he's turning a blind eye to this stuff. However, he is simply being way too soft and way too nice. His motives may be sound, and yeah sometimes a good kid does something royally stupid and deserves a second chance. But not everyone deserves that second chance. It's Tressel's job to figure out which kids will take that second chance and get it right, and which kids will take that second chance as nothing more than an opportunity to prolong their bad behavior. And at that, Tressel has failed miserably thus far.
