I was wondering if anybody had the link that showed all the OSU players that have been arrested since Tressel became coach?

Don't know no link, but here is something. Since you asked to see the list, here's the abbreviated version of the players arrested, since JT's arrival in CBus. 27 separate arrests, NOT 27 separate players.

Alex Boone
Tim Schafer
Erik Haw
Jonathan Skeete
Albert Dukes
Lydell Ross
Louis Irizarry x3
A.J. Traspasso x2
Ira Guilford
Branden Joe x2
Santonio Holmes
Troy Smith
Redgie Arden x2
Maurice Clarett
Kurt Wilhelm
Fred Pagac Jr.
Quinn Pitcock
Chris Vance
Angelo Chattams
Marco Cooper
Steve Bellisari
Derek Ross

Tressel is no saint, and he has very lax rules. As an OSU fan, that is the one fault I can find with him.

i dont remember some of these guys getting arrested at osu. in trouble, some, but i dont remember them being arrested. that, however, doesnt deny the fact that kids make bad choices. im not gonna say anything else becuase i'll get the old "stop makin excuses for tressel"

so i hope you use this list for research :)

It must be a list of players who have either been arrested or have committed NCAA infractions because I don't think Troy Smith was ever arrested.

probably cant blame them with all the congressmen getting caught with hookers or the vice pres shooting his so called friend or any other number of higher ups that dont feal the law pertains to them in this day in age its not the cool thing to be smart and do well in school and socialy i was the first one 2 ripp mc but now that i have had a beer and calmed down the blame lies at the door of the folks setting examples which they are not doing a very good job of

Even if all these guys didn't get arrested, they gave the school bad publicity which equals, a black eye.

Just like OSU had today. There was the Maurice Clarette story and their TE got kicked off off the team this year for breaking team rules. The reason was not disclosed and he can still play next year.

Just a thought about one man's character... those who know Jim Tressel understand he is a humble man of faith. Clearly those Buckeyes who break the rules need to be punished swiftly, but also when apppropriate, be forgiven, and given a chance to earn respect and become men of character. That is the Tressel way and unfortunately some players choose to take advantage of his forgiveness. It is about winning, but it's also about building character in young men. It's refreshing to me to see coaches who try to do both and not bow down to the almighty pressures to win at all costs. Tressel sometimes chooses take one on the chin for a player who sincerely tries to right his ways. His discipline is fair and firm, but maybe not cut throat enough for some. It's not a perfect system, but then again, neither are we!

I believe he did get arrested. In 2003. If I remember right, just before the scUM game.

At Colorado, under the God-fearing Bill McCartney (who would leave coaching after the 1994 season to found the Christian men's group Promise Keepers), Buffaloes football players ran amok to such a degree that a school policeman told SI's Rick Reilly, "At the first home football game of every season, a couple of detectives drop by the stadium and pick up a few programs. Saves you time. Instead of having a victim go through the mug book, you just take out your program and say, 'Is he in here?'''
--as per Tim Layden of SI

Another man of faith. People, young and old, make mistakes. It's good to support and give extra chances, so I agree with Buck 82 to that extent. I just makes you wonder a little bit, though.

Are you smoking the rock? Or are you just a propogandist in the employ of tO$U Colllege of Football?

Have you looked at Tre$$el'$ RECORD, not his just his humble and faithful ACT? The trail of slime leads back to Youngstown State. It's ONLY about winning at all costs for Cheaty McSweatervest.

His methods, his "fair and firm" discipline, really helped build Maurice Clarret's character, didn't it?

This list only goes up to May of 2004, mind you. Pretty good stuff here. I guess in the beginning, these were guys that Cooper had brought in. But not now.

May 1, 2004--Sophomore backups Louis Irizarry and Ira Guilford are arrested and charged with robbery after a student is assaulted and his wallet is stolen at 3 a.m. They are held in Franklin County jail through the weekend. Both plead innocent to the robbery charge, with Guilford released after paying a $25,000 bond. Irizarry is held pending a hearing to determine if he had violated his probation from an earlier assault conviction.

Nov. 16, 2003--At 3 a.m. after a win over Purdue and six days before the Michigan game, wide receiver Santonio Holmes and quarterback Troy Smith are charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a fight in a parking lot on campus. A window in a car is kicked out and one woman reported her jaw was broken. Holmes is held out of the starting lineup at Michigan but returns to play most of the game. Holmes also started in the Buckeyes' Fiesta Bowl game. He pleads innocent to the disorderly conduct after the team returns to Columbus. The disorderly conduct charge is dismissed against Holmes on March 30, 2004. Smith is found guilty of the charge.

Oct. 27, 2003--Irizarry is charged with three counts of first-degree misdemeanor assault after three people sustain minor injuries during a fight in a Park Hall dorm room. Irizarry is suspended two days later. He is found guilty of one charge each of assault, negligent assault and disorderly conduct and pays $404 court costs and is put on probation. He is later reinstated to the team and is listed as the second-team tight end on the 2004 spring depth chart before he is suspended indefinitely after the May 1, 2004, arrest.

April 2003--Running back Maurice Clarett reports that a car he has borrowed from a local used-car dealer was broken into and thousands of dollars in cash, CDs, stereo equipment and clothing was stolen. The car was in the parking lot at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and Clarett calls police from a telephone in Tressel's office. Clarett was later charged with lying to police about the value of the stolen items and is charged with misdemeanor falsification of the police report on the theft. Clarett pleads guilty on Jan. 14, 2004, to the reduced charge of failure to aid a law enforcement officer. He is ordered to pay the maximum fine of $100 and serves no jail time. The charge does not appear on his criminal record.

Oct. 13, 2002--Linebacker Fred Pagac Jr. is charged with persistent disorderly conduct. Pagac was arrested at 3:45 a.m. after police said he was intoxicated and had a role in a fight involving two women outside a campus-area bar about 12 hours after the Buckeyes' homecoming victory over San Jose State. The police report said an officer told Pagac to stop but he continued to fight. Pagac was suspended for the team's next game at Wisconsin. Pagac pleaded innocent. In December, before the team's national championship game against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl, Pagac was acquitted in a jury trial.

Aug. 17, 2002--Defensive lineman Quinn Pitcock is charged with underage drinking in his hometown of Piqua. He is suspended from the team for the three weeks of preseason workouts, then worked out with the team and is not held out of any games. He pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct.

Aug. 24, 2002--Flanker Chris Vance, the Buckeyes' second-leading receiver from 2001, is suspended from the team before the season opener for what Tressel called a violation of team policy. Vance was with the team on the sidelines but did not play against Texas Tech. He rejoined the team for practice the following week but did not play in the second game against Kent State. Athletic director Andy Geiger later said Vance's unspecified violation took place the previous winter. Vance returned for the third game and ended up as the team's fourth-leading receiver.

July 29, 2002--Wide receiver Angelo Chattams is investigated for the alleged theft of a set of golf clubs from a sport utility vehicle in West Carrollton. Prosecutors approve but do not file a theft charge, permitting Chattams to enroll in a program for nonviolent, first-time offenders and avoid a charge. He was excused from the team to deal with the legal matter, then reinstated and played in the season-opener. He does not play again for the Buckeyes.

July 26, 2002--Police find Branden Joe, a sophomore fullback, asleep in a car on a highway ramp near campus. The police report says he refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He was suspended for the three weeks of preseason camp and the team's season opener against Texas Tech, then returns to the team although his playing time is limited by injuries.

April 27, 2002--Linebacker Marco Cooper is arrested hours after the Buckeyes' annual intrasquad scrimmage and charged with felony drug abuse and carrying a concealed weapon in his sports-utility vehicle. Cooper pleads guilty to two charges in November and is put on probation.

March 2, 2002--Tight end Redgie Arden is arrested on a charge of drunken driving in his hometown of Ironton. The redshirt freshman is found guilty and is sentenced to three days in jail and fined. Suspended indefinitely from the team, he does not participate in summer workouts before the 2002 season but is reinstated before the start of the 2002 season and played in 11 games. He is a member of the 2004 team and is listed on the two-deep roster at defensive end.

Nov. 15, 2001--Quarterback Steve Bellisari is arrested two days before the Illinois game for drunken driving. Tressel suspends the Buckeyes' three-year starter indefinitely and then reinstates him to the team three days later. A senior, he practiced with the team for the Michigan game but did not play, then came off the bench to play most of the team's Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina. He later served a weekend in jail.

March 21, 2001--Cornerback Derek Ross is arrested on charges of driving without a license and providing false information to police, giving an incorrect name when pulled over for speeding. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He is suspended from Ohio State's 2001 spring practices, then played most of the 2001 season, leading the Big Ten in interceptions and earning second-team all-conference honors. Left team to make himself available for the NFL draft a year early.

Jan. 18, 2001--Tressel is hired.

Pretty long list don't you think Jigga?

And with two years time not included.

The problems involving players include underage drinking, drunken driving, disorderly conduct, assault, falsification of a police report, theft, robbery, felony drug abuse and carrying a concealed weapon.

So apparently Tressel is like a mob boss and he has underlings who do all the dirty work for him so that he keeps his hands clean.

The thing about O$U's football program is that there's a ton of smoke, it's finding the actual fire that's the hard part. Getting to Tressel is the NCAA equivelent of the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

Regardless of what "sweatervest" might have done, comparing him to Osama is pretty stupid.

edit: but now I see the name of the poster, and I understand. You have nothing but unbridled hatred for OSU and nothing but unsubstantiated accusations to support your case Oligah.

Think you need the line more closely, he wasn't comparing Tressel to OSBL. He was saying trying to bust him is about as difficult as trying to find him, he wasn't comparing their character traits.

Looking at your 13 posts and your location, you're obviously an Ohio State fan.

That list of incidents since Tressel was hired is a whopper. To me, that ranks right up there with the worst of the worst. That rap sheet reminds me of John Cooper's regime.

How do you explain it? Assault, robbery, drugs...it's all there. Surely, as a fan, you have to be concerned with what has been going on with the Buckeye Football program in the last half decade.

That's a damn shame what I just read. Don't get me Wrong, Maurice troubles is his own doing. But to hear how these kids get exploited is sad to hear sometimes. Yes a free college ride is wonderful to have. But damn to hear how on E.Bay these kids get exploited is mindboggling. To be fair to Tressel, its hard for him to be in them Big Conference. With the pressure to win and the money he can get earn, its crazy to think what he and the
other big time coaches has done to succeed. We are thre lucky one's, that T.V. contract save us from alot of this nonsense we seem to read night and night out .

theres nothing really to get out of. kids make bad decisions and it affects the rep of the school and their coach. tressel cannot be with them all of the time and he's not responsible for babysitting them. none of these arrests/getting in trouble have anything to do with tressel doing anything wrong, with the exception of the clarrett allegations, who by the way is getting a mental exam. so i dont see any "fire" that has to be found.

Maybe Coach Tressel had better start looking at the character and values of each player he recruits. Yes, kids can make bad decisions, but 27 bad decisions is far more than one would expect.
