BEWARE- For anyone who has not yet read the free Scout article that Goshen Guy mentioned, I suggest you skip it unless you just took a valium, and have an empty stomach, because you will just get very angry and sick, especially when you read the last paragraph.

I have no problem with kids picking their school, but backing out this pisses me off. I will not be sad if he is buried on the depth chart.

He commited 7 months ago only to back out at the last minute with no warning. Its his choice, but as an ND fan, I don't have to agree with him. If he chose UF from day 1, fine, but bail out and you are fair game.....

Don't get crazy, the ND class will probably drop to #5 on Rivals, they just pushed up to #4 this afternoon, but Trattou was not that highly rated by Rivals. They will probably stay #2 on the ESPN 150 board, because they also did not rate him that highly. Biggest drop will be on Scout where he was #33 in the country, will probably drop from #5 to #7. It may get worse on signing day, as usual, but the schools that are most likely to pick up the most elite recruits on signing day, (LSU, more Florida) will be already ranked ahead of ND. Worst case scenario is a an average 8-9 finish.

I really dont care about rivals or scout rankings, we need D players. The ranking "services" are around to make money, not find D players for ND.

I blame Charlie because he always goes after O players first, That's just BS. He KNOWS we need D players. So here we are AGAIN w/o much help. WAKE UP Charlie!!!!!!!! Defense wins championships.

Whoa! You guys are getting out of control over 1 lost recruit. You blame Charlie! Are you kidding me. He just recruited IMO the best offensive class this university has ever seen, and it is certainly the best in the country, and you want to blame Charlie for something. How about thanking him for doing an outstanding job. He realizes that there has been deficiencies in the D recruiting, and he has already taken steps to correct it, Corwin Brown. Give the guy a break, he has recruited more talent to ND in the last 2 years than Tybob Davieham did in their combined 8 years. Besides, I'm kind of looking forward to winning those 49-45 games, it will be exciting, sort of like watching NHL games during the early Gretzky era.

Don't get me wrong, this really sucks, but this little paragraph says it all:

"The Gators were on his mind though and he was able to catch them on the television a couple of times. He saw an attacking and hungry defense that played like everything was on the line. So, he took a chance to come to Gainesville and see what else he might like."

If coach Brown can turn our def into what we all hope it will be, then in the near future we will start getting the def studs.

aww how sweet, it was a real special time for justin and the florida coaches. give me a break, that kid can go to :censored:. I understand it is his choice but he acts like he is so noble and honorable b/c out of respect for nd he let them know right away. hello justin, did you know nsd is like 12 days away, and youve been an nd commit for months? Yea, thanks for giving them alot of time to look at their other options.

Please don't trash recruits or players on this site.

i totally agree with you but, we dont got to call the kid a jackass. he's only 18 and the gators just did a better job at selling UF defense to him.

and to irishkid 23

i cant believe you blamed this on charlie, i hope you blamed the ND change for the past 2 years on him also. because im thankful for CW. our defense wasnt getting it done so he hired a new DC and maybe a new defensive scheme (3-4). this change is better for us done the road and if this change causes a recruit to change his mind, so be it. remember guys we are in a REBUILDING year. its all about the future and hopefully we can get a kid better than JT next year.

Until he signs with them, we have hope of getting him. Remember that the fans SCar fans help us get Gray by bad mouthing him.

Has anyone seen the talent on that line(FL) it is impressive. You would be crazy not to let them fly around. ND line was pretty good to if you look at the star ratings. Minter may have tried this atleast in one game to see how it worked out. In the Penn St. game they looked pretty good going after the QB. Being from NJ and watching the Jets play that defense wow. It was mean and not wanting to play in that kind of defense, being a 3-4 what can you do. Did he talk to Brown?

Yes you blame this on Charlie. He is the HC, he couldn't get a coach to do anything with the Defense and he knows nothing about how to coach Defense. He can't get anyone to recruit defense, and he can't recruit defense.

In the last 2 years, we did not beat one team that was better then us. We also got smoked 4 out of the 5 games against the team that was better then us. Unacceptable. IF we do not win a BCS bown game in the next 2 years I put Weis on the Hot seat. Charlie is just great at ourscoring the teams we are better then.

The way Ty and Bob were canned, if we don't start winning against the elite in the next 2-3 years, Charlie should be canned.

Trattou has to do what is best for him. But, to make the excuse at the 11th hour that it was the defensive scheme, is just crap. Many people may compare the situation to Gray's. But, it is completely different. ND's only realistic option is to pursue additional defensive recruits in 2008.

It is perfectly acceptable to change your mind (even if it means going back on your word). But the circumstances here are quite disturbing.

Care to elaborate on my stupidity? What did I say that was untrue?

I wake up every morning and piss excellence. I want the same for ND.

Do I believei Charlie will turn it around, YES!

But if we go 4-5 years where we can't beat the elite teams you are going to tell me to stick with him???

ND should be pissing excellence in football, and we aren't. We are between the average teams and the elite teams.

Padomernut, go have some more herbal tea, and kiss your bosses ass some more.

Do-de-do-de-do-de-do. That was the sound of us traveling back to middle school. Anymore of this prepubescent bantering and I'll be more than happy to kick a few slap on the hands your guys' way. Unless you can tactfully go about disagreeing, drop the catfighting.

We will be fine, good luck to Trattou

Best post is this whole thread.

There is no problem with a kid changing his mind. I am happy that JT had enough respect to do it now rather than in 12 days or in his Freshamn year.

Good luck to you JT, I wish you the absolute best!

It is one thing to change your mind, but when you verbally committ then change your mind two week before that is not right.

He was quoted as saying....... I want to let ND know now that i'm going to florida so they can go out and do what they need to do.

What we need to do, there's nothing we can do, it's too late.

Great New Jersey tie Charlie!!!!

As much as it sucks to lose JT, it really isn't the end of the world. He is one player, from one class. It will be a lesson for CW and his staff and they will just recruit defensive players harder next year. If changing to the 3-4 means we bring in 3 elite LBs and a couple DTs next year then losing JT won't be that big of a deal.

That being said, they REALLY need to focus on bringing in elite defensive talent next year.

Give it a break. We are talking about one recruit, and beleive it or not, he was not the second coming of the Messiah. You've made your point, you do not like CW, so I am sure you are longing to return to the days of Tybob Davieham. Get serious!!
