"Trap game" for LSU?

That is a tiny paper in a town in north Louisiana. I would hardly call that bulletin board material. We need nothing to get up for this game. Just the noise from the crowd of a predominantly pro-Tiger Superdome will crush the spirits of Notre Dame. Believe me you've never heard anything like LSU fans bottled up in a dome. Wait until Jan. 3, and we shall see. LSU 24 ND 7

Wait until Jan. 3, and we shall see LSU 24 ND 7........ Not really we will score at least five touchdowns.

Am I missing something.... 5 times the 6 points received for a touchdown....carry the 3..... yep I'm lost....

ND has played in the Dome before. Not new territory. Also, you have to go back to Ty Willingham to find anyone that's held ND to 7 points or less. The majority of the LSU fans on the internet that I've met so far think they cannot lose. I just have one question. Are you undefeated this year?

I was taking you seriously until you said a hostile crowd would crush the spirit of Notre Dame. Say what you want about our talent or "speed", but to think that a loud crowd would crush the spirit of Notre Dame? Clearly, you don't pay attention to history. If ND has nothing else, they do have the spirit of Notre Dame. There are dozens of teams throughout the history of college football that will tell you to NEVER underestimate the spirit of Notre Dame. You can start with the Florida Gators and the Sugar Bowl they were heavily favored to win.

Am I promising an Irish win? No. I would never be so bold to do that against a quality opponent. But if you're counting on crushing the spirit of the Irish to win this game, you may be sorely disappointed.

Yeah, seriously. And to expect that crowd to be as heavily LSU represented as it would be in most games is ridiculous. Is this guy aware of how Notre Dame fans are everywhere? Ntm that the fans at the school travel well.

At most the crowd'll be 70%-30% LSU. Which is a lot, but a big difference from a true home game which would probly be about 90%-10%.

How do you score 5 touchdowns and get 24 points?

Are they only worth 4.8 points in the Sugar Bowl?

Edit: Blah, everyone else ripped him before I was able to :(

I think the author's defnition of a trap game differs from mine.

Nah, he's right... LSU is very capable of getting trapped between their win against Arkansas, and Their opening game next year. It's not like bowl games are important to anyone... We are like Bowling Green to them... the team with as many losses as we have... and to lesser competition:p

Well, there is at least one person in Louisiana not taking it for granted that LSU will slaughter ND:

http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061211/SPORTS/612110335/1006

While it's a nice break to hear something slightly resembling respect from down there, part of me wishes this journalist would have just kept his thoughts to himself, as this will no doubt be up in the LSU locker room this month.

The author uses a poor choice of words when he says "trap game". A trap game by my definition is a game that is overlooked because it is sandwhiched between 2 harder games on the schedule. Obviously, this is not the case for LSU.

Now, if LSU starts reading and believing the press clippings, maybe they will take us lightly. So the author has a valid point.

My prediction?

LSU 35 ND 21

I just don't think we can hang with their speed.
