I know it’s been a very active season so far.

We didn’t normally have many where I live but this is 3 years in a row we have had a significant one. I live on the eastern shore of MD near Delaware. It was about 15 minutes north east of us.

Some pictures I have seen are pretty bad. And I have seen that there is one fatality so far.

We had a tornado hit Whiteland which is a burn of Indy. Did some significant damage.

Winds were crazy today. Toppled a tree about 30ft tall in the backyard. Luckily it missed the shed by about 5ft.

I’m in Florida on Spring Break, this week, so I’ve been following this from afar. There were at least four confirmed tornadoes in Indiana last night. One in Sullivan, down near Terredise. One in Whiteland, southeast of Indy off I-65. One in Swayzee, near Marion, and another northeast of Fort Wayne. However, many other areas experienced straight line winds and lots of downed trees and lines.

The worst part is, NWS Storm Prediction has the same area under a threat for this week on Tuesday.

We got hammered pretty good in Arkansas on Friday. Thankfully, my house & family are fine but tore up Little Rock pretty good & some smaller towns. My wife had a coworker whose apt was destroyed so she picked her up & took her to her parents to stay. A friend of mine from out of state has a colleague in LR that has a tree in her bedroom so hopefully we can help her get repairs or at least a care package ASAP.

The lady I student taught with in college went to Little Rock to spend the weekend with her daughters and SIL. They sent her daughter, a teacher, home from school early due to weather. She no more than got home when they realized they were in the path of the tornado. The twister destroyed everything of their house, except the bathroom where they were taking shelter. Some of their pics made the national news. Literally a miracle they’re alive.

Glad they survived. Had to be terrifying.

Dillard’s (department store) is headquartered in Little Rock. For any of their employees who experienced damage in the recent tornado, they sent their contractor/builder to offer free repairs, put them up at hotel in the meantime & gave them access to their bistro to eat or take out meals to family for free.

Indiana has always been a place where storms and tornadoes are common, but they’re definitely becoming stronger and more prevalent over the last few years. A buddy who teaches and coaches in southern Indiana near French Lick sent pictures of their historic downtown being decimated by a storm from a few days ago. Sure, these storms are random in their path and track—but there have been many historic buildings and downtowns that have been destroyed by severe weather the past few years. It’s definitely a concerning trend.

Something similar happened for a few years when I lived in Alabama. Then it kind of stopped. It sucks to be in the middle of it when its happening. I think it's just easy to ignore until you are on the wrong side of it, since most land is relatively undeveloped.
