None of the above are easily Top-20 units. Floyd is obviously a top 3, maybe top 5 guy. Eifert is probably a top 5 TE. The other WRs have showed very little.
You just conceeded that two of our four starting receivers are All-American candidates. Riddick and TJ are a much better #3 and #4 than most ranked teams have.
Cierre and Jonas have been solid but not out of this world given what other RBs are doing. Moreover, they each have a very costly fumble.
SoS is everything. We've played the 5th toughest schedule in the nation according to Sagarin. Most of those RBs who are "doing more", like Graham for instance, have been playing much weaker competition than we have. (and btw, how'd Graham look against our defense?)
There are definitely better RBs out there; Richardson, Lattimore, etc. But Cierre and Jonas are a better 1-2 than most ranked teams have.
Defense gave up 28 points to Michigan in the 4th quarter. Top 20 defenses don't do that.
The secondary had one bad quarter of football, and the defense gave up one long drive to USF. Other than that, they've been exceptional. You're right that 'Bama and LSU don't do that, but they're on another level altogether. Our defense is easily a top 10 unit right now, and most advanced metrics agree.
WRT rankings, we apparently have three votes in the AP, which means not a chance in getting ranked after Purdue and very hard to get ranked after AF.
I wasn't arguing that we will be ranked if we smash Purdue. I only argued that we could justifiably be ranked at that point.
