Hes just blowing me away right now.
I think a big part of it is that hes not really expected to take us to a NC or really of all that much. hes just supposed to go out there and play his best.
A lot less pressure than DC.
But he does seem a lot more Intelligent and accurate.

very impressed with him and his attitude

He has thrown some good medium distance throws today. Made a few mistakes but this his first game starting.

Great game by Tommy and great game plan by Kelly. We finally stuck with the running game and it took a ton of pressure off Tommy.

He's a stick with an average arm, but he has great touch and accuracy and makes great decisions. Once Longo packs some muscle on him, he could be really really good.

He has AMAZING touch and accuracy! His three touchdowns were spot on! I was uberly impressed with this Frshmn! He was outstanding.

I would hate for Longo to put too much muscle on 'im and lose that touch, ya know? Just build up his lower body to prevent knee, ankle, hip...etc injuries.

True! Interesting to see him go up against Hendrix and see who comes out with the starting job. At least we know we'll have a great back up as well!!

How can you not love this kid's attitude? He seems unflappable. He is modest and totally centered. He does not physically appear to be THE STUD quarterback we all crave. But he makes the most of his abilities. He listens to coaching and then goes out and does what he has been coached to do. He is a cerebral quarterback with ice water in his veins. He is the underdog. He is the best damn ND qb story since Kevin McDougal...and we haven't even finished the first chapter!

Hate to say it but I think Rees has got Matt Lovechio written all over him...

The situations are entirely different.

LoVecchio: Coached by Bob Davie in an option offense
Rees: Coached by Brian Kelly (a QB guru) in a spread passing attack with Michael Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, Tyler Eifert, Theo Riddick, T.J. Jones, etc. at his disposal

I think he'll be fine.

He'll do well the rest of the season. It'll be a fun battle in the offseason.

I know this will sound stupid, but being amongst friends, I don't care. Sometimes don't you think that it would be great if the competition for the starting quarterback job took place on the field during games instead of during practice? I mean, Montana (the old man, I mean) sucked in practice, as far as I have always heard, but we all know what happened when he finally got into game situtations. Would just hate to see Rees, if he is the real thing, finish the season strong and then sit the bench the rest of his career because he doesn't look as good in practice as some of our other QB's. At least we've got three more games (including our bowl game) to see if today was just a fluke, or if he's the real thing, or on his way to being.

I shouldn't even have mentioned anything tonight after the kid played a heck of a game and gave us our biggest victory in 5 years. Let's just all enjoy the win tonight and then I will get into more detail about what I mean.

Rees>Crist as far as running Kelly's spread.

But I'm not convinced Dame can get anywhere with either of them.

Utah gave the game away.
I'm glad that they did. It should give both offense and defense a ton of confidence going into Army and USC.

Oregon started doing it at the beginning of the year. seems to have worked for them...

If I recall correctly quite a few teams have been using the random kindergarten flash cards.

It still makes me chuckle...
every team in the country could do it...I'm still gonna get a laugh out of it.

Rees is playing now because he was here in the spring and learned the system Hendrix would probably be in the same scenario its all about learning the system... if any qb wanted to have a chance of starting frosh he would either have to be like cam newton or darron thomas or have come in early..

Good accuracy, not a lot of arm strength. He played a hell of a game, but I'm not ready to anoint him QB of the future yet.

AND, you can tell when he was interviewed by that NBC chick that he's highly intelligent. That makes him smarter than like 99% of DI QB's.
