My boss, who's also a huge Notre Dame fan, just informed me the Tim Brown has retired from the NFL and is going to be the wide recievers coach at Notre Dame. Has anyone heard anything about this????

I heard he will have a special title since they can only have 9 coaches on staff for this year.More of an adviser.This will help out with recruits and the sons of Raider fans.

:jawdrop: Geez I love Charlie Weis more and more every day. How much talent can he bring in on one coaching staff???? Hopefully Tim can teach some kids how to return kicks as well while he's there....

Man, I guess what Jerome Bettis said on the ESPN NFL radio show hit home. He said Notre Dame is where it is at because he, Tim Brown and others have not helped out enough. He only mentioned TB by name.

Tim Brown is looking at the title of " Director of Player Personell" It was held by Erica..can't remember her last name. She left with Ty. She was at Stanford with him as well. This is the position Brown is getting I believe.

What does a "director of player personel" do? do they have the oppurtunity to recruit? coach, or are they like spokespeople?

Let me correct what I said...Brown will get the position that Jimmy Gonzalez had. He was in charge of recruiting operations and visits and such.

That's beautiful! And JB is right, every other big-time program (Miami, USC, Ohio State, etc.) uses it's pro-alumus as a recruiting tool, why shouldn't we? And Timmy Heisman caoching Mo Stovall...classic.

i loved watching tim brown play when i was a kid. he was and still is an excellent role model for irish football. he is a great addition to the nd staff and i think he will do great things for the irish in the future.

Thanks for the article. I'll use this for later reference....You know, it's strange, but I think a lot of people take Tim Brown for granted. I mentioned to a couple buddies the other day - both of them Irish fans - that Tim was likely to come back to South Bend and help out with recruiting. Their reactions weren't all that enthusiastic until I reminded them of his success at ND, the unbelievable career in the NFL, etc. He's kind of like a Barry Sanders in that respect - quietly builds a hall-of-fame career, but since he was a nice guy and stayed out of trouble and out of the papers, people often took for granted and overlooked his accomplishments.

I think it's phenomenal that he'll be helping to sell the school and recruit for Weis.

Yeah, I read in the Chicago Tribune he hasn't made it official yet. In fact, he hasn't completely decided to retire from playing professionally yet. I hope he decides to come back to South Bend, I think he could do a lot for recruiting and coaching.

Man, I'd take him for a couple more years in Chicago for the right price. I think he still can give a team a boost as a third WR.

Rex has an arm. I'm fully confident in his development provided he can keep himself healthy.

Lubby Smith is a fine coach.Like him alot. Bears need to do a better job with there drafts.

I think the drafts have been above average. We've slotted over 20 starters in the last 4 drafts. Our problem comes with retention, ie letting Warrick Holdman and Rosey Colvin go, etc.

We need to open up the checkbook and we need a couple receivers that can actually catch the ball. Terrell, Gauge and Dez White can't catch. We get a solid go-to receiver, and the Bears could be in the playoffs with the defense they have.

I'd agree with that. If Grossman can play all season this year and pans out, and they get themselves a top shelf reciever, 'da Bears could be a really solid team, especially in a weak NFC.
