A loss saturday would mean the worst start in the
school's history. There are too many who came be-
fore, who gave it everything they had, to be treat-
ed so poorly. The ever loyal subway alum deserve

I feel the pain

I understand how EVERYONE feels about this season's start. Me too. And, as I sit here in DETROIT, I can hear the Spartan drums beating about tomorrow. Worst thing is, I think 0-4 is a foregone conclusion. This line is just WAY too inept. Is anybody out there feeling more optimistic? If so, why?

I've had a hint of optimism each friday the last few weeks.........game day comes and my hopes have been destroyed.

Something positive has to happen this week, otherwise, 0-8 will be a forgone conclusion.

After the way the team has played the last 3 weeks, I see little reason to think the Irish have a chance. We can't do two of the most fundamental things in football....run the ball and stop the run. Plus our pass protection has been atrocious. Right now 0-8 looks very probable with even 0-9 possibly happening.

yeah i'm not getting my hopes up either. i'd much rather be wrong on this one than the other! i can't see our o-line improving from 1 million sacks given up to half a million in one week. especially when the nation's sack leading team is our oponent! but, like i said, i'd love to be wrong! -Don

I know it sounds corny, but a win today might not come on the scoreboard. If we are able to make some progress, such as on the offensive line and maybe, just maybe, score an OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN, I will view that as a victory.

I cannot see Notre Dame go 0-8. I just can't. But to avoid that, we're going to have to start progressing. So far we haven't. Let's start today--that would be a win in my book.

the reason i'm feeling optimistic is bc i love notre dame and think they can win every saturday. i'm an O's fan, i'm used to it.

Just as last week when really Michigan was backed into the corner, to start 0-3 at home would be a disaster for them another loss would be a disaster for us. I am not sure how it happens, but today has to be the day, maybe a spark from a special teams play, something. Even, a fluke play where a fumble or tip ball goes our way and the players rally around it and take advantage of it. Also, maybe last week was what we need a very bad game with no positives and a hard week of practice. We can only go up from here and lets start today!

There you go Timugen, way to get back on that Kool-aid!

I have to admit that despite being down all week, for some reason I have a "good feeling" about today. I can't explain why, but the UM game feels to me like it was AGES ago - my wife feels the same way - and I think we're ready to put this behind us. Today's game could kickstart our season in much the same way that last week's game got Meatchicken going once again ... or it could be the final nail in it, I suppose. But FWIW I'm leaning towards the former.

I agree and the win was not on the scoreboard...

I feel that the mere fact that we had two offensive
touchdowns is a positive move. Weis should keep up
the full pad - summer camp approach. We will get
killed by USC, but the other games are winnable...Tom
