The prez of the U just said roughly "the high standards of the conference in bother behavior and academics for the student athletes is strict and we are content with their decision" FIU dismissed 2 suspended 16 indefinately.... miami 1 indefinately.... if you look at all the replays, its miami kids stompin fiu players, takin off helmets and using em as weapons... just disgusting....
Yeah, I think FIU got it right. As for Miami, do you expect anything else of that program and that school? They recruit the kind of kids they recruit for a reason. They belong there.

Unfortunately, and something we'll never know, but would FIU do this if they had the kind of following and incoming revenues like Miami has? Probably not.

So much for the "new rivalry."

Yeah. A glorified I-AA team that hasnt' won a game all season.

Nice work Miami. Keep churning out those great citizens into society.

FIU boots 2; UM's Reddick suspended indefinitely

"We needed to put more teeth into the policy that we have," said UM Athletic Director Paul Dee. "Now our student-athletes realize they have more to lose if they walk on the field with the intentions of fighting."

The policy was created hours after Dee sat through a previously scheduled two-hour meeting with UM president Donna Shalala and select members of UM's Board of Trustees.

Roughly 30 minutes of the meeting was spent discussing Saturday's melee and how it could have been prevented.

Me: How it could have been prevented???
Let the one-liners begin.
I'll start.
Hurricane players must check in with their parole officers after each play.

They could have kept their hand-cuffs on for the entire game, instead of taking them off before they run through the tunnel.

Talked to my dad this morning and he said he heard an interesting interview on ESPN radio yesterday.

DUH U's president admitted she never even looked at the tape of the brawl.

Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg, more so Golic, then proceeded to completely lambaste her for her logic in doing so.

This is the kind of see no, hear no, speak no evil that goes on down there.

i wish i could have heard Golic lay into her. Guess she figures that if I didn't see it, then it never happened.

Shalalalalalala tee da.

That woman has no clue. None.

Every race has its idiots; ours just seem to get recruited by Miami.

Tremendous journalism right there.

I remember her indignity, along with Sec. Madeleine Albright, at the realization that President Clinton had lied to them, the entire cabinet for that matter, regarding the Lewinsky matter.
She just didn't have enough indignity or moral fortitude to resign in protest, I guess.
Well, her moral weakness and administerial fecklessness continues to this day.

Soooooo... does that mean we can blame the Miami brawl on Bill Clinton? :)
