Dylan if you're Downtown go to the Safari Cup Coffee for the ND Gamewatch. They've got a satellite hookup.

Arrangements have been made for us to get together for the UCLA-ND game at Safari Cup Coffee. Please join us! I scouted out Safari Cup during the Stanford-ND game and the accommodations are sure to please. This coffee house is owned by Dave & Sharon McLaughlin. They are very nice people and Dave happens to be a huge ND fan. Here is what we will have: The place all to ourselves -- no other customers or games on TV. We will be in the upstairs lounge room which has a very large, high-quality projector TV screen and an excellent sound system. It will easily accommodate 50 people. Dave will set us up with beer selections for purchase, including Guinness on-tap. You can check out the Safari Cup website at http://safaricup.com/.
Safari Cup Coffee is located in downtown Birmingham at the corner of 3rd Ave. N. and Richard Arrington Blvd. (f/k/a 21st Street North) with very easy access to Red Mountain Expressway. As a point of reference, the Cathedral of St. Paul is about a half a block away. There will be plenty of free parking spaces on the street near Safari Cup. For driving directions, I recommend running your starting place and Safari's address through MapQuest.com using the "Directions" option at the top of the screen. Use the address of where you are as the "Starting Location" and Safari Cup's street address (300 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd., Birmingham 35203) as the "Ending Location"; then click "Get Directions". The phone number for Safari Cup is 326-0019.

Your problem is not "the South," your problem is Alabama. I'm sitting here watching every minute of the ND game and enjoying balmy temps in the 70s.

I love the South. At least part of it.

The problem is WVTM TV Birmingham. The guide claims the ND will be shown at 2:00 but I just spoke to the station and they intend to show Miles College (local school) game in its entirety.

EDIT: wrong thread.

But, now that we're on the topic, are ND games often not shown in Alabama? It's on NBC....... so I don't really understand how a different game can be broadcasted over it.

I just spoke with the Safari Coffee Cup. They've got ND people sitting watching the Miles College game. They have a satellite but can't get an ND feed outside of WVTM. They're stuck there as well until the Miles game is over. If you want company to commiserate go on over but you won't get to see the ND game any sooner.

When NBC started showing ND games, WVTM refused "citing" compliants from Alabama and Auburn fans. An independent station WTTO picked up the games. They used to advertize, "Tune in to root against Alabama's favorite enemy, Notre Dame the team fans love to hate". Eventually NBC made WVTM pick up ND coverage. This is the first time since they haven't carried the ND game.

Damn, so if I go south for school with the ND gear, I'm not 'gonna get a warm reception? lol, I actually think it's funny they advertised for the games that way - it probably won us more fans down there.

Alabama is so backward they probably aren't showing the game because they haven't heard Ty Willingham isn't the coach anymore or because Karl Dorrell IS currently the coach of UCLA. Rednecks & hillbillies.

Hey twit. I posted the reason earlier in the thread. You've never been to Alabama have you. Miles College is a traditional black college that had a homecoming game against another traditional black college. Now don't you look stupid with your uninformed, bigoted post.

I was born in NJ. You've an embarrassment to NJ and wherever you live now.
