Well tomorrow is May 30th and somewhere, somehow we should be getting word of the two Notre Dame Quarterback finalist sweepstakes. I figure start this thread now, get some opinions and have a thread to discuss it tomorrow when the decision is made and the transfer, whos going to win the job chatter starts up. I'm sure somebody will be lazy enough to accually start their own thread about it tomorrow instead of scrolling down to get this one. Whoever does it will be taking away to the greatest thread ever made.

I'm really interested in this decision. I believe its going to be the top 2 with no starter decided upon. We'll know soon. Go Irish!

You know, if not the greatest thread ever made, it certainly has the potential to be the most anticipated! I'll bit, how about Clausen, Sharpley.

Honestly, I don't know how important this decision is, RIGHT NOW. I still think that after working in the summer and in the fall that one of the QBs left out could work their way into the starting rotation. There is still quite a bit of time for all of them to improve their game, and I'm sure Weis has told all the QBs that this decision isn't set in stone. If one of the tentative starters slips up and the one of the "backups" improves, then, come fall, this decision may not matter, it's a good sign of who will play, but there is still a lot of practice before Sept.

It's without question between Clausen and Jones.

It's pure speculation on my part and not saying it will happen or that I'm trying to start a rumor because I'm not but I wouldn't be suprised in the least if Frazer transferred.

I can also see Sharpley playing out this season and that if it doesn't look like he's ever going to get a shot over QB's that are ahead of him as well as Crist coming in that he will give up football and put all his effort into baseball.

I totally agree.

I don't think that there is any question about what you are saying. If Sharpley isn't the starter, I could actually see him calling it quits this upcoming season because there is no chance that he's going to bump whomever is the starter.

For all who chose Jones, and not from any inside info obviously, but I would not be shocked if the pot in the car incident wasn't a big deal with CW, even though DD didn't get nailed for it legally. I'd have to believe it would call his judgement into question -- even if they weren't his 'roaches'.

It's gonna be Sharpley and Clausen.

Sharpley isn't the sexy pick, but Charlie relies on QBs who don't make mistakes and know the offense very well -- and he can win with this system. Look at Tom Brady's first year as the Pats QB -- make the short passes and don't screw up.

I think Sharpley wins the job. It's not sexy, but it makes the most sense.

I would think that if all the QB are fairly equal as far as development, and given the fact that none have experience, he would want to go with the DD or JC to get the most out of them in the long run. (damn that was a long sentence).

You have to go with the guy you feel will give us the best chance to win the most games now, regardless of the future and all that.

I would think Clausen and Frazier would be the best in the long run. D. Jones, recent troubles aside, didn't impress me with his throwing. Sharpley, has minimally more experience, but maybe less natural talent than a few of the others at QB. (my opinion) I don't see Frazier transferring, who knows. Its a confusing mess, but much better than having the alternative...... you know recruiting has picked up when position battles are so common!

I think its Sharpley and Claussen.

Claussen is the golden boy and will without doubt start in the 2008/2009 season. To avoid a future quarterback dilemma, Charlie probably wouldn't start DD or Frazier and then bench them next year. Sure, this won't be what is released to the press as to the reason for his decision, but off cameras is the way I believe it will go down.

I say DD transfers for sure, Frazier is a 50/50. It will allow us the opportunity to recruit another QB next year.

It gonna come down to Sharpley and the Golden Boy. Then Frazier will transfer and win the B.C.S. championship game next year playing for Michigan.

LET'S GO DAME !!!

I'm still sticking with what I said when spring ball ended. Jones will not be in. Clausen will be in. Hard to draw a read on Frazer, and Sharpley is a "safe" choice but could easily be passed by Frazer if he is playing well.

P.S. I don't think the pot incident has anything to do with Jones being out, he just had the hardest time in spring ball running the team and getting the plays called right. If he is final two I will be completely floored.

Thanks for the link. Before reading it, I would have said Sharpley & Clausen were the 2 finalists (& I guess they still could be), but I'll go w/ Jones & Clausen simply b/c I have no clue. Weis has done a good job keeping the lid on this competition.

As for the CBS writer, Dodd; I can agree w/ most of what he stated although we all knew that stuff. My question is how is he basing his decision? Inside info? Did he evaluate all four throughout the spring by watching every practice & scrimmage? I doubt it.

The one thing he's missing the mark on is assuming the majority of us ND fans are going to be disappointed w/ 7-5 or 8-4 at best. If either of those records comes w/ the addition of a bowl victory...sign me up. I'm being realistic & would sincerely love to be pleasantly suprised.

It's not the fans (at least most of us IMO) or the school that Weis will be hearing the criticism if his team is as mediocre as expected this season. It's the press & the haters. The press b/c it'll be convenient to criticize the "genius" label & to more importantly regurgitate the old Willingham "controversey". The haters b/c, well; that's their role.

That's even worse news for Frazier, listing all 3 of the other guys, and excluding him.

Well I wasn't expecting 3. Well now nothing will change until a starter is announced because nobody ever mentioned Frazer as a serious contender in the first place. That's definently rough though for him.

"Gary Gray had shoulder surgery after exams, which is likely to exclude him from the upcoming season depending on recovery time."

--------Thats pretty bad news if you ask me.

Wow... as the 2 man derby becomes... 3? Haha. There's one we didn't see coming.

This will make for an interesting twist come this fall. It definitely keeps us guessing, and prevents Weis from tipping his hand. I still think it's Clausen, but its anyone's game, if they "Wow" during camp.

As for gallup21, sorry there bud. I know you were rooting hard for Zach.

Damnit this sucks. He said it would be a top 2 and now it's more complicated. I wanted Jimmy and Zach.

Yikes. Oh well, he probably wouldn't have seen the field much as a freshman, anyway. I just hope he's active enough to develop as he'd like. Really tough for a kid to enroll early and then have this happen ...
