The loss hurts

But you know what? We went 10-2.

Last year 9-3.

Man how times have changed. We have not seen more than 16 wins in back to back seasons since 95-96. We have not seen more than 18 wins since 92-93.

Charlie has elevated all of our expectations. He has challenged the team AND the fans to expect more and to not be satisfied with a loss of any kind.

I can't say enough about how proud I am of this team. They did not meet my expectations for wins...but you know what? They had a great season. Period. 10 wins boys and girls. 10 wins. Next year will probably be less, but given all the players we lose on Offense, I expect that right now.

So let's give a big huzzah to this team. They never gave up even when down big. They fought like hell. They played tough. They DID exceed expectations these last two years (especially when you look at the relative lack of talent we have on D).

CONGRATS TO THE IRISH ON A GREAT SEASON!!!

HERE'S TO A NICE BOWL WIN!!!

Maybe next year won't be as much of a rebiulding year as everyone thinks.

I agree. The loss hurts very much, especially when it's against USC. But you know what, i'l take 10 wins any day of the week. I don't think it's what we all wanted, but 10 wins is 10 wins. I think we'll go to a BCS bowl, but if we get into a winable bowl, that would be fine. Lets send these seniors off on a win.

It's times like these when we need to step back and see where we came from, what we have accomplished, and where we are headed.

Our future looks bright, despite the darkness of this loss.

Maybe next year won't be as much of a rebiulding year as everyone thinks.

Maybe not. It's hard to say, but I am keeping my expectations in line.

Or maybe give it some thought. Don't let this be your final statement as a senior. Get out there and win just one more.

Times haven't changed. Whoop de do, Weis can win the games against cupcakes that Davie and Willingham would sometimes have lost. Whoop de do. That's supposed to be good enough now at Notre Dame? To beat up on Navy and Purdue? Weis is continuing the Ty tradition of getting humiliated by every good team he faces. It's a joke. This team has nothing to be proud of. Nothing. They had three tough games, and won one. They had two HUGE games against top opponents and got the shit kicked out of them. They were an overhyped, coddled bunch of magazine cover players who will get drafted very high and maybe even have good careers- but who, as college players, absolutely did not get it done and were not up to the challenge in any of their big games.

I am now not at all convinced that Weis is fit to carry Holtz's jock.

Hey, Charlie- win a big game first, then write a damn book. Win a big game first, then do a damn 60 minutes special.

Glad to see someone else thinking of the positives. Two years ago if you would have told me we were going to win 19 out of our next 25, go to back to back BCS games, and be in title contention the weekend after thanksgiving in just two years with basically the same team I would have taken it everyday of the week. This team has made me feel proud to be a Notre Dame fan no matter what the outcome of the game is. And as far as the 10 wins, if you are winning a minimum of 10 games every year your going to win a lot of national championships and your going to build a great long term program with no more rebuilding periods.

That's because two years ago you had pathetically low expectations due to two bad coaching hires in a row. Expectations are back to normal now, and this team is not meeting them.

Our last 4 losses have come against the top 3 teams in the country. We're not that far away, though next year will likely be a step back. But who knows.

That's no excuse. If we'd played #9 or #12 we'd have gotten beat just as badly. The difference between a Michigan or a USC being #2/3 or #8/9 is that they got to play US, a horribly overrated team that they could destroy and look impressive against. If we'd been on LSU's schedule they'd be top 5, too.

Consider next year an ambigious period. It's the rebuilding year we never had.

I doubt next year's team will be worse than this year's, however many losses it has.

Especially if Minter goes.

If you had told me all of the above...I would have said you were smoking something. ;)

So you're joining "NotreDame OurMother" in folding the tent for the bowl game.

I expect ND to have 20 wins in those 25 games regardless of who the opponent is in January.

20 out of 25 in two years?

Willingham only won 21 in 3.

What a difference a coach makes.

What would lead you to expect that? I'm being serious. In Weis's time here, the Irish are 18-1 against teams that finished the year unranked. They're 1-4 against teams that finished the year ranked, and that's assuming Ga Tech doesn't get embarrassed in its bowl game and fall out. They're 0-4, with 3 consecutive non-competitive losses, against teams that finished the year in the top 10.

We barely won the GT game. That was about the best win we're capable of this year. This is not a very good team. If we draw the type of opponent our ranking and stature should draw, we'll almost certainly lose, and probably by 2 or 3 touchdowns.
