Illinois DE Terrance Jamison

Jamison has given a verbal commitment to Wisconsin, but the Irish have now contacted him.

Weis is looking around for recruits, I love it. This kid is a good looking prospect. Rivals has him ranked 18th. He has good grades as well.

Also Brian Cushing seems to be back on board. Looked like this kid had totally lost interest in ND, but Weis was able to impress him enough on Monday, to get him interested in the Irish again.

"Because of Weis, Notre Dame is back. Last month the Irish were 'completely out' of his plans, Cushing said, because former coach Tyrone Willingham was fired.

"After meeting Weis for the first time, Cushing said he's having second thoughts.

" 'I think they are in the running,' Cushing said. 'Coach Weis talked to me about his approach to the game, and I really liked it. He's going to win. He likes doing it, and he has to do it there. He talked to me about that, and where I fit in. Why wouldn't I start as a freshman? He said it would be my fault. He's going to get me ready.' "

Cushing is another kid who seems to have parents pushing him toward ND.

I suspect Weis can also advertise the drunken keggers as a perk, rather than just the academics and alumni connections. I have a feeling that because Weis and Haywood 'get it,' they can explain to these kids why everbody that goes to ND is so gung-ho for the school despite what everybody at other schools is telling them.

ND is the funnest. :awesomewo

I guarantee this is all Ianello's doing. Ianello is a Top 10 recruiter as you know with Wisconsin, and if you remember back to the good Arizona teams... that was his doing, too.

Just goes to show that all is fair in love and college recruiting.

EDIT: More on Ianello

AFCA: In his second year as an ex officio member of the AFCA Board of Trustees ... Chairman of the AFCA Assistant Coaches Committee.

Current Coaching Position: In his second year as tight ends coach at the University of Wisconsin.

Previous Experience: Arizona, wide receivers/recruiting coordinator, 1997-2002 ... Arizona recruiting coordinator, 1994-1996 ... Wisconsin recruiting coordinator, 1990-93 ... Alabama assistant recruiting coordinator, 1988-89 ... Alabama graduate assistant, 1987.

I'd rather have Wilson as well. Maybe we'll get both.

Barry Alvarez knows defensive talent, so if this kid was good enough for Wisconsin, I'll take him.

i had seen an article REALLY early this season that said Willinghams problem was he was hiding the ND tradition - thats the main reason y nd needed a change....and it looks like Weis is using the ND name and tradition result = Championship in the next few years

Realisticly fellas, I don't think we have a shot at Cushing. I just got a funny felling when I read the article within the posted link. I think he will end up at SC (Damn It!!!).

Sounds like you need to go have a heart-to-heart with the kid. Tell him you have an offer he cannot refuse.

if he refuses, sounds like the family will have to come rough him up. :wordyo:

lol, if you ever saw some of the more guido-esque members of my family you'd wonder how possible that actually is.

Seriously though, this looks like he could be a real beast at OLB, and the Irish could use the help. With that kid Smith coming in to play MLB, if Cushing commited that could be a pretty scary LB core within a year or two.

A fellow Paisan!!! I knew there was a reason I thought Aerosmith was cool. Have Fasano host Cushing for his visit. He'll commit before he gets on the plane to go home.

lol, 1/2 anyway. the other 1/2 is a weird german-irish-swiss mix. however that whopping 1/8 that's irish is what's made me so loyal to Notre Dame, and will be what keeps any/all future children of mine loyal too, no matter how distilled it gets....lol...
