“We just could not block that guy. He just played a phenomenal game,” said Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo, a Radford and University of Hawaii alum. “We tried a lot of different blocking schemes, and we could not get him blocked.”

Manti is handling things the Manti way. Quietly and demonstrably in a physical way. He is not our "rise up in vocal anger" guy. He is not that sort of leader. Fortunately, we have another: Harrison Smith, who will fade away into Notre Dame history as one of the most underappreciated great players we've had. Between Manti and Harrison on the defense, and, I believe it will be, Jonas and maybe even Mike on offense, we seem to finally be growing some leadership. And even young Tommy is beginning to talk out --- THAT would be a GREAT leap forward from the QB position.
