There's been a recent groundswell of support for me starting my own site http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14401 and I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to provide some info on what I'd need to get started. I'm thinking a server would probably be key, as well as a modicum of message boardese (Not a technical term). Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, what does HTML stand for?

Really...? That's great! When can you leave...and take VictorValiant with you. He seems to be dragging his feet a bit these days.

Where in my post did I indicate I would ever leave?.....voluntarily. Remember.....comprehension is key, and I'm mighty observant.

You may want to be a little nicer with the consulting fee or I'll have CC Fond pore over your code. This would not be good for you. Kyle F. from UHND can attest to his site being down for a few days. Let's call it a learning experience.

Now, if you have the know-how, isn't writing source code a breeze, without the need for software? I'm reaching here as I'm still a novice, but it is what I've been told.

i can sell you some source code. it's open, which is even better. i call it phpbb. bring your server and $200 to ernie's parking lot, and i'll hook you up.

Well, I suppose you'll have to continue wondering, since I wasn't involved in that.....well, not directly....at first. Sure, I was a member of the board-within-a-board subculture that ultimately led to the crashing of the site, and it was kinda cool that we were able to post where nobody else could see, but since most of us weren't aspiring to be Mata Hari or James Bond, it would've worn off after awhile.

If you're still interested why I was asked to leave, it was due to an exchange between Kyle and I where I told him that if he didn't make his presence known more on the football board that it would return to being the heaping, steaming pile of shit that it used to be. Apparently he wasn't receptive to constructive criticism.

Sure, does it really matter? Considering I'm always logged into the site in both user/admin capacities, if you enjoy that inside info... so be it.

Actually, I've always imagined the control panel of a message board to be akin to being inside NORAD, or, even better, like being the human resources director at a top strip club. Is it close?

Well, you're not giving me much to riff off of but I do appreciate the respect shown. Quite frankly, Sir Hammer has a certain ring to it. So does Sir Ham-A-Lot. Anyhoo, if you're looking for "ND" merchandise at less than wholesale, you should probably know that I'm from New Jersey.
