I saw over on the Aaron Lynch thread that we may get a few suprises from recruits that are already committed to other schools. Any guesses? I don't think we will get Jake Fisher now because of Nick Martin (would have preferred Fisher) so then I thought maybe Ray Drew? If I remember correctly he was recruited at OLB and would more than make up for us missing on Ishaq

GUys, just know that when you hear the name Ray Drew, it's about 99% positive that he's going to stay down south, and realize that he NEVER talks about ND to other colleges' sites (a dead give away that a guy isn't coming...see: Lyons, Wayne). Also know that even to ND sites, he talks about thinking of visiting ND, but has never remotely talked about a date for said visit. Even if you hear about Drew checking out the Irish, I HIGHLY doubt he comes here, no matter how much Tuitt (who is also taking a visit or 2) allegedly tries to talk him into it. Sorry guys, I hope I'm wrong though...

Tuitt Dominates

Tuitt has also spent the week getting re-acquainted with old friends as well as making new friends. “I am rooming with my favorite recruiting buddy Ray Drew,” Tuitt said. “We met in Williamsburg, Virginia for the Army All-American camp and dominated up there. Now we get to meet again and do it at the game.

Ray Drew talks about recruiting and life

“I would like to get up to Notre Dame, because of my good friend Stephon Tuitt just committed to them,” said Drew. “Me and Stephon really hit it off this summer at a camp in Virginia. We talked about us playing together on the next level.

I realize this doesn't mean a lot, but it can't be bad, right? I'm not saying Drew ends up here, but I'm quietly hoping, and I don't think it's a terribly long shot. I guess all we can do is wait and see!

I forgot to mention that my good friend and fellow IE member "Gencdaddy" led me to the Tuitt link. He is having trouble posting for some reason, and if a mod could help him out it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Touche. You've clearly looked into this more than I have, but I'm still optimistic...

But the quote from Drew was within a week of Tuitt's commitment, which occurred in September. Drew has yet to visit, so I wouldn't get too excited from that specific statement. Maybe something new will pop up soon...

I don't feel that Amir is really that big of a surprise considering all of the good things he has said about Notre Dame and from just reading between the lines it seems he might be headed here. I honestly think we end up with 24 for this class. Martin made 20 today and I think that there will be 4 more. I believe Amir is about 75% Irish and I think Lynch is about 95 %. Then I think we will end up getting two others, those two I'm not sure but that's just what I think.

Lynch doesn't know he is high on ND, I would assume he only knows he is a Stanford commit IMHO.

I agree except I would put Amir in the 90s as well. If we do indeed get these two to make 22, it will likely be this weekend after guys like IShaq, Scarlett, and Haynes commit. I know we want this resolved now, but we will have a much better idea of how many we take after this week.

If we grab one of those three, we may only recruit Niklas or try to flip someone for the last spot (but it may depend on which of those 3 pop, Floyd, and 5th year guys). LOTS of Questions will be answer within the next 5 days. We will take 24/25.

Maybe the surprise commit this week will be Ishaq. Maybe he was going to go to PSU or Syracuse, but Tuitt and the staff changed his mind at the AA game. Didn't Tuitt say "we stole some recruits at the game"?

I think that the most important recruits for ND at this point are Amir Carlisle & either Lynch/Ishaq. Obviously, if we could get Lynch and Ishaq that would be ideal, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

Is Koyack EE? Are any WRs EE? If Floyd leaves, I'm hoping that there are some EEs at TE & WR to soften the blow.

EEs are Carrico, Brindza and Golson. No WR or TE sorry.

Fwiw the guy that tweeted about Martin also tweeted this a little after that

DMBerk Could ND get another big time recruit on Tuesday? Hearing another major prospect had a great meeting with the Irish at the US Army game.

Nick Martin will follow in his brother’s footsteps at Notre Dame rather than his father’s at Kentucky. After sitting on an Irish offer for months, the three-star offensive tackle from Indianapolis made the flip from the Wildcats to the Irish this week, giving Notre Dame a much-needed building block up front, according to Bishop Chatard head coach Vince Lorenzano.

Based on that information, it leads me to believe that the surprise commit that was persuaded at the Army game would most likely be Scarlett. Already interested in ND, and was on the sidelines with most of the ND commits. Just my opinion, we'll see for sure in two days. I know ND also talk to Shuler and Richardson, but I personally don't see either of those guys coming to South Bend.

So Ishaq is out?? To be honest, I love that guy. Great size and frame, and he'll be a nice fit at OLB.

Any confirmation that he's out??
