I just finished the final book in the massive seven volume series. I'm just wondering if any other Irish Envy members have read it as well. The ending... I need closure and to chat about it.

I'm a huge SK fan and was glad when he finally released the last book. I was a little disappointed in the ending, but typical King you didn't really see it coming.

I gotta say that I saw it coming... and felt a bit cheated. "Ka is a wheel."

Fuck you Roland.

Cannot believe I missed this thread. Great series, gained a lot of momentum through the fifth book. All the pieces were put in place for an epic ending.

Instead, we get a laughing old douche of a Crimson King and a dumbass ending.

"It" was my favorite King novel. Masterpiece.

The way the Crimson King is taken care of... the way he is described... Hell, 3/4 of the way through the final book, it is fucking fantastic. Then... enter the Crimson King.

Like Tom Clancy, teh Harry Potter chick. Just because someone sells, does not mean they are good. Michael Bay is aprime example

I don't understand how it could be so go right until the end. The very end, I get it. It was coming. Hell, I saw it coming. But the battle with the Crimson King...

The quality of King's work has dropped dramatically in recent years, but his earlier novels were masterpieces.

Everybody DIED. It was so awesome and so depressing at the same time. Eddie, Jake, Oy (that one actually hurt me inside). The battle with the Crimson King was retarded. Why couldn't Patrick draw him out of existence? What would have stopped him from doing so?

Im into different stuff. Try William Burroughs or Hubert Selby. Also just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy which was pretty good. Read it before the Movie comes out

The new book is going to be set between Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla. It will feature Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Jake, and Oy, etc.

Wabash, have you read any of the Dark Tower comics? There's something like five or six different series out or planned. I haven't read any.

I'm freaking 23 years old! Why would I read... some.

Fuck. I'm a nerd.

Yeah... I read the first couple that really go over The Gunslinger and the stuff that Roland, Cuthbert, and Alain talk about in the Meijis during Wizard and Glass. I think it talks about the journey to Meijis, the whole young Roland flashback, and maybe a bit about Jerico Hill and John Farson.

If King writes 9th book, he really needs to cover John Farson and Jerico Hill. It's kinda like dating a chick and when you ask about her sexual past... all she says is "Yeah." I WANT TO KNOW MORE DAMN IT!

Sorry for coming to the party so late but....

It was really amazing. Everyone dying. Then Eddie and Susannah in the other world, and Jake as his bro. I loved that. But really.. The problem with giving people so much power, a la Patrick, is that it makes the rest of the story moot. Why not draw up a horse to pull the wagon? Why not draw up umpteen things to alert you about Mordred approaching. Yes, lets erase the Crimson King. Err ok.

The Road was awesome. My wife and I watched it a couple weeks back. We kept asking ourselves, why bother going on? Everyone you meet is practically a canibal at this point.. It was gripping the entire way through.

King is writing an eighth Dark Tower novel, by the way.

Hmm. Don't know what to think about this. I found the end of the series much like the end of Lost. Very rushed, very messy. You take 7 books to setup this epic finale and then *BOOM*, err... (I dare not post the ending in case anyone else is in the midst of it)

When I finally got a chance to read the rest of the story I was pretty hooked, but you definitely notice a drop off in quality after Wizard & Glass.

I am not sure if you guys got to read the prologue. The book that I had showed what happened to Roland as he entered and eventually reached the top of the tower.. Interesting reading none the less.

The Road got sunbed at the Oscars. Viggo was awesome.

And... thanks for bringing this thread back from the dead Phork.
