Phil Steele rates ND's Defensive Line as #1 in the Nation:

1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Irish had a top-notch defense last year and it was spearheaded by their front seven, as the defensive backs were inexperienced. This year they have five of their top six D-linemen back in South Bend. Notre Dame has two of my top 15 projected first-round picks in their three-man line with 6-foot-6, 322-pound defensive end Stephon Tuitt, a first-team All-American last year with 12 sacks, and 6-3, 357-pound defensive tackle Louis Nix III, who earned third-team All-American honors last year and is the top DT in the country.

Surprisingly (to me at least), he has USC at #2 and ASU at #4. Didn't realize those two teams, ASU in particular, had that type of talent on the line.

Stanford was #9, Alabama #13, and LSU #14.
