I'll bore you guys with a few numbers: At the moment there are twelve programs with ten or more verbals [ Texas A&M/22; Texas/17; Michigan/14; Alabama/12; Miami/12; VT/12; LSU/12; TCU/11; and Florida, FSU, Houston tied with us at 10.] That would put us in a pretty good light as to our pace.
During the last month, only twelve programs picked up three or more verbals. UNC had five. We and BYU, Miami, Michigan, and USC had four. So, even during this "desert" Staff Kelly was succeeding at a high level. As a perhaps humorous aside: Georgia Tech got three verbals making five total. Those five include THREE DEs and a DT. They are apparently still in shock/panic about not getting Tuitt.
When you begin to feel neglected, remember this: Tennessee, UCLA, Cal, Illinois and NEBRASKA only have two verbals. Boston College JUST got their first two. Purdue and Iowa have only ONE. PITT HAS ZERO!! The mighty menace of Stanford has three but even that is weird as they had five verbals and two de-commitments. Something's not perfect at the abandoned Harbaugh estate.
Last year recruiting picked up only slightly during the month to come, but it DID pick up a little. The average recruiting power can expect to gets verbals from about three athletes during the next month to about the first week of July. At that time we had 12 verbals and Scout was ranking us the 9th leading class at that level of numbers plus quality.
p.s. note Michigan. Fortunately this shouldn't help him much for the next couple of years on the field.
