I just got a tweet from the Chicago Tribune saying Sharpley is now listed as the #2 QB on the roster.
Honestly I'm scared. I like Sharpley,he's a good guy and everything, but if Clausen for some reason has to come out of a game,i'm scared.Everything I've ever seen of him is that he just cant throw the ball.
Hope this never has to happen though.

Sharpley did fine in 2007. If he had started the whole year and played the whole year, I bet we would have gone 6-6 or 7-5. It's kind of funny to think that he was Quinn's backup and now he is the 3rd string QB behind Clausen.

I'm not that worried about Sharpley, we probably won't need him much, but he's been around enough to be reliable.

Dear Oline,

Please keep Jimmy safe for five more games this season.

Thanks.

Sharpley will do a fine job if needed, ND can run the wildcat with great results and our running game is better than when he played during Jimmy's freshman year. The guy knows the offense forwards and backwards. Montana can't even get playing time at JUCO.

The Wildcat would be better with Sharpley on the field rather than Clausen as Sharpley could actually be a target when he's split out.

It gets even better with Goody who is WR and knows how to run a route, and catch a ball.

I'm hoping the OLine and Hughes have a game like the last one where ND chews up the clock and takes possessions away from Navy. A quick lead from Jimmy, Tate, Floyd, and Rudolph then HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUES Time!

I am comfortable with Sharpley as a number two. He isn't Clausen obviously, but I feel hes a better number two than Crist is frankly. Crist getting playing time does nothing but spur his development, which is honestly the reason why he was number two to begin with. He needs the game time to develop so we never have a 2007 debacle again. Sharpley can make all the reads, and lets remember, everyone around him is much better. Last time he played, there was no Tate, Rudolph or Floyd. There was no running game and there was no O-line protection. This is why he came back, as insurance, and now that decision seems like the best choice Weis has made since he's been here.

While of course it would be far better to have Jimmy healthy, if Evan has to play, I'm confident he will do fine. In 2007 with a decent line and a little more experience around him, I think he would have done a decent job. He's a good athlete who can move around, he's smart, and he has 5 years in the system as well as starting experience. I don't think there are many other teams in the country who have that luxury in someone who started the season as a 3rd string QB.

As far as the people wishing Nate Montana were around, if his name wasn't Montana, he wouldn't even be in the discussion. He didn't start in high school and isn't starting at a junior college now. What makes anyone think he would be better than Sharpley? Heck, what makes people think he is all that much better than the 2 walk-on QBs currently on the roster?
