As was posted last week Scout has now ranked it's Top 100 players for the 2008 class.
Here is the link:
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&pid=88&yr=2008
Some highlights:
1) ND has 5 committed recruits in the Top 100. Rudolph at #25, McDonald at #43, Fleming at #49, Crist at #66, and Cwynar at #92.
2) It's pretty amazing that 43 of the 100 recruits on this list have already verbally committed.
3) Oklahoma is the current leader with 6 commits, ND's 5 commits ties it with USC, OSU, and Texas for 2nd place.
4) 34 of the 61 recruits listed on the Irish Envy Offer List are on this list. Of those 34, 12 have verbally committed, 5 to ND, and 7 to other schools. That leaves 22 current ND offers in the Scout 100 that are still uncommitted, although Shugarts is all but gone to OSU as well. Of the 21 other uncommitteds, ND has offers to 5 of the Top 6 (Arthur Brown, Julio Jones, Terrelle Pryor, Darrell Scott, and the Thrill), and 9 of the Top 20.
5) Of these 21, ND is considered by various sources to be in the mix for at least 8 of these guys, #5 Scott, #6 Hill, #11 Patchan, #19 Forston, #28 Johnson, #32 Filer, #33 Floyd, and #40 Sabino. The best opportunities for the Irish are obviously Floyd & Filer, but the other 6 are all still possibilities.
There are 3 others (Sweat, Ayles, & Brandon Moore) who still express an interest in ND, but seem very unlikely at this point. Sweat seems to have all but committed to OSU, and Ayles & Moore as TE's would seem to be unlikely with the recent commit to ND of Joseph Fauria. Also, Kenny Tate at #69 has been very quiet about his intentions, although it has been rumored that he has silent verballed to Penn State.
6) Of the 5 current ND commits who did not make the Scout 100, Fauria received 4 stars, Cave, Poz, and Golic all received 3 stars, and Goodman received 1 star. Goodman most likely received only 1 star because Scout has not fully evaluated him. For example two other current Irish offers, Brandon Newman & Carlton Thomas also received only 1 star, and there is no way either one of those guys could have been evaluated at 1 star. Both will most likely end up as a 4 star, and Goodman will probably also end up as 3 star.
Overall a very impressive start for the Irish to have Scout rank 5 of it's 10 current commits in their Top 100, although the list was published before Crist & Fleming committed, so that may change with Scout's notorious bias towards USC. It will be interesting to see where it goes from this baseline.
