Darrin Walls is officially welcomed back by Irish Nation for his clutch interception.

What the fuck Sam?, you have started for four years, your are like fucking 7 feet tall and should be one of the best O-lineman in the nation, but you keep fucking up multiple times a game that REALLY REALLY hurt us and kill our drives. Get your fucking head out of your ass, keep your intensity, I love it, but be smart god damn it.

There is little support for Walls. Everybody acknowledged that he was burned on the play and was aided by a terrible pass.

lol @ giving Walls a pass because he intercepted a horribly thrown ball that would have hit the grass and we would have had the ball 20 yards up the field if he didn't pick it. It that ball was thrown properly it was 6 for Purdue walls was burnt. But yes i agree with you on Sam Young he got man handled. walls has been one of the biggest disappointments this year, along with T.Smith, and Blanton

lol I was just giving him a pass from the thread I created, "Darrin Walls - Take a seat" where we all bashed him. But if you guys don't wanna let him off the pine yet that is cool.

Now on to Sam Young...

Darrin 'Toast' Walls...

Blanton....he was running around a little bit out there tonight, but every other game I think he has been strong.

Trevor Robinson....I seem to recall him having a very good game

Sam Young...dang, he appears to be regressing.

Jonas Gray is on a roll...my confidence lvl in him has gone up a little.

Theo Riddick...hmmm, this kid looks like he has a bright future...good game from him too.

Since we're on the subject of who had a bad game, if you DVR'd the game go back and watch #18's play. Pitiful. Where was Robby Parris all night? clutch catch at the end of the game!

Ethan Johnson didn't play well either. So many missed tackes and missed assignments.

We got away with one tonight....without our QB, #1 RB, and #1 WR. People need to step up or UW is gonna role us.

I think because of Young's size and experience, the ref's eyeball him more and cut him no slack. Seems to me there have been bogus calls against him.

He is busting his ass.

Some of the holding calls against him have been BS. Can't defend the false starts though.

He is our best lineman and holding calls most of the time are BS no matter who they go against. The false starts should not happen though, maybe his hearing is going in his old age?

what are you watching?????????????????????????????????????

when and what play has Blanton played great?

don't worry I'll wait....

Im somewhere in the middle with blanton. He made a couple of nice plays, but he also got owned by a juke move a couple times when he could have stopped the play for minimal gains. Walls fortunate to get that pick, but he was in the right place at the right time, sometimes things go your way. I thought Gary Gray looked solid in the secondary though which is nice to see.

I almost forgot about Young, yeah the penalties suck but he is experienced and I guess a team leader so I doubt he gets replaced.

Roby Toma. He'll never, never, never see the field this year...but I'd love to see him get a shot.

According to his teammates, he runs good routes (unlike Kamara), catches everything (unlike Kamara), and seems like a solid possession receiver (unlike Kamara).

Let him play.

Yeah he seems like he will be a good player for ND in the future. I think guys like Walker and Goodman will probably get chances before Toma, which is fine, although you never know.

Why is it every week we have to start a threadabout how someone needs to gotten rid off?

We won right?

How many penalties did Sam Young have on that last drive?

^Unrealistic high expectations for players from delusional Irish fans? :)

My Beef with young...

For a four year starter:

Way to many holding calls
Way to many personal foul calls
Way to many false starts
Didn't pick up the the outside blitz a couple key times

I love his intensity and his nastiness. Just would expect a four year guy to clean this shit up before he hurts us in a big moment against UW or USC. I'm all for redemption.

don't forget about Duncan getting schooled on the left side most of the 2nd half. i am very frustrated with Young, but did ok last night despite the falst start or starts i can't remember. i'd have to watch the game again and really observe. one of the glaring issues is duval kamara. the kid is literally in the abyss right now. he lines up incorrectly, his routes have become suspect and he looks thoroughly confused out there. you're telling me deion walker and goodman are worse? i'm not buying it. charlie needs to get a better option in there for duval. i don't care if he's a "good" blocker. his blocking can't be utilized b/c he's getting so many penalties. someone give me some behind the scenes color on what goes on at practice that is preventing charlie from giving the younger receivers reps over duval. does duval have pictures of charlie with small farm animals?

this thread's title s/b changed to duval kamara- take a seat

Another thing about that "clutch interception". It was a stupid, stupid football play. IT was 4th and 3. They chucked the ball twenty yards down the sideline. If Walls bats that ball down instead of picking it off, we have pocession in a MUCH better spot. Stupid, selfish, football play.

You're taking out our best blocking receiver for a smaller guy who runs good routes.. If Jimmy doesn't look his way, it doesn't really matter how good of a route running he is. Now you just cripple our running game by doing so. So pick your posion! Cripple the running game by putting a receiver who Jimmy may throw to once or twice, or, keep Kamara in helping our running game get 4 to 5 yards a carry.

Your not thinking about that much when the ball is in the air. Your just thinkng about making a play. The worst part was, he was burnt for the TD if it was a decent throw.

young has disappointed since day 1. first year he was a freshman... second year well he is a little improved... at this point i have no hope other than thank god he graduates this year.

john ryan fits this EXACT same mold. they both frustrate me to no end.

kamara just cant catch the ball. they need to get him a throwing machine in the hallway of his dorm or apt and just turn the thing on as soon as he wakes up. he has terrible hands.

i had so much hope for ethan johnson, he hasnt played terrible but i really expected big things out of him this year and have been underimpressed thus far.

I don't think Kamara blocks well at all. Parris does, which is how Tate got into the endzone on his 14-yard run. Parris, in my opinion, just seems to want it more, plays with more heart and will do whatever is needed to help the team. He has nowhere near the athletic abilities of Kamara, but it doesn't matter when it seems that Kamara can't hold the ball or work hard to become a better player.

Blanton has been out of position all season, but he is a decent tackler and is willing to try to jump routes when he can. The db who has been killing me is H. Smith. He never makes the right reads and is a piss-poor tackler. It might be just me, but I expect safeties to be good tacklers considering they are the last line of defense. I would love to see Slaughter or Sergio Brown get more playing time. Let's just see what they can do.

Young has been such a disappointing player in his four years here. He is a good O-lineman at best. I don't recall Purdue having any amazing speed rushers and Young was harassed all night. I think Olsen is our best lineman with Robinson our second. I say let Dever or Romine get their chance at tackle. Heck stick Wenger, an experienced lineman, in there if he can do the job.

i agreed with you on everything except wanting to see Sergio Brown play more...if he never played another snap that would be fantastic. Has he made a play this year? Lets see McNeil or Slaughter or Gray at Nickel

Sergio made some plays, tipped some passes last year, but this year he's done absolutely nothing to impress.

I agree that Young committed some piss-poor penalties, but I'd still rather have him protecting Clausen than anyone else at this point. It's nice to see an Olineman playing with some fire for once, even if it leads to a couple of flags. The guy seems pissed off at the world, and I appreciate it.

I hope he can clean it up, and still come out wanting to maul anybody that comes accross his path.
