If you're a notre dame fan, and Rudy doesn't make you tear up, then something is wrong with you.

I know Rudy.... and he was a pain in the ass... and I got choked and goosebumps. And then I saw he was a hobbit again and I came back to earth.

He's a real figure - all balls. I liked him

Really, he's a character... we hung in the same circle when he would tell us about his weekends trying to sell some movie - hilarius.

Just like at ND - he would send ideas to LA people then fly out there, show up on their (some producers) doorsteps in Hollywood and say: Didn't you get my letter saying I was coming? They'd be like: Who the f*ck?????

We're talking years of pushing.

Then... he shows up and said it was getting made - love it.

Rudy, Hoosiers, Miracle, Rocky II, Remember the Titans, Seabiscuit, and Field of Dreams always get me to tear up. My wife makes fun of me every time.

ok none of those other movies made me cry but the scene in Saving Private Ryan when Giovanni Ribisi is dying and he starts calling for his mom is a fucked up scene.

Also in Raging Bull when LaMotta beats up his brother in front of his family because he thinks his brother banged his wife.

Requiem For a Dream when Jared Leto calls jeniffer Connoley from prison and she asks him to come home and he says yeah, then a single tear drops from her eye cuz she knows he is lying.

Wont make you cry but very powerful stuff

I'm a Marine with 25 years in. Been in combat and seen all kinds of crap, but cried when I saw Rudy. Go ahead and laugh ladies, because then we will play friggin games, and I have more games than Milton Bradley.

Go Irish, destroy USC.

Ever choke up when Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) tells Lance Cpl Harold Dawson (Wolfgang Bodison), "Harold? You don't have to wear a patch on your arm, to have honor."?

You guys have a birthday coming up, next month. Happy Birthday! (in case this ex-swabbie forgets)

Some friends of mine tried to tell me that Rudy was a "terrible movie".

Let's just say they'll have a hard time getting out of the ground...or getting back to life.

There are many things wrong with me. Ask my ex-wife, siblings, friends, KneuteredDoomer, et al. Not crying while watching Rudy is not one of them. Laughing might be, but I'm not convinced.

My son got me a tape of the movie for Christmas when he was about seven or eight. He'd been listening to my stories about my time at ND, and met some of my classmate-friends. He'd also witnessed and been part of my watching games. To my chagrin, he was inclined to absorb and parrot my language when things weren't going well. He was young but no dummy. He found the tape in the "out to pasture" bin at the local video rental shop and got the two bucks asking price from his mother.

But I digress

One of my ND buds was was at the game while pursuing a master's degree and "Double Domer" status. He swears that more of the crowd was chanting WHO'S HE?" than "RU-DEE." He was probably drunk (or in an "Ndom state of mind") but I'll take his word for it.

I'm not a fan of schmaltz.

I've watched it a few times, but not for Rudy. It's nice to "visit" the campus without driving eight hours. It's also fun to catch cameo appearances by the likes of Ted The Head Hesburgh.

Thanks Shipmate, and Happy Birthday to the Navy too this October. The only time I cried during "A Few Good Men" is when they carted off Jack Nicholson at the end of the court martial. He was a bad-ass CO.

Does not surprize me that people in the crowd that day asked "Who's he?". Why would anyone know who a walk on scout team player was? That is the reason why it is such a great story.
