12 year old thread bump...but I saw this article and there were a few posts dedicated to him but nothing like the recruiting profiles we have now.
I chose this one because there were no really recent ones anyway and it was just interesting to go back and read some of the other threads about Myron. He really is a stand-up guy, would have been a great fit for Notre Dame. However, this is the perfect example that kids choose schools that fit best for themselves, not best for the fans (us). Whatever criteria they use for their own decisions is up to the kid himself. No reason we should shred any recruit that does not choose ND. Granted, he is the exception, not the rule, but I also remember thinking FSU was a silly choice if he wanted "academics." I thought it was a farce, but he made the situation what he needed. Also, just because a kid may choose ND, that does not mean he will be successful in life he just has a great support system to help him pursue that if he puts in the work.
Myron had a dream, saw the best way to achieve his dream and went about going down that path. He had wanted to go into neurosurgery since high school and he is now officially matched into a residency for it. Of course, that's 7 years with a possible fellowship and he will be 38 when he is ready to practice, undoubtedly at an academic position with great prestige. Most people wouldn't make it, but then again, most people are not Rhodes Scholars, don't play in the NFL and never match to a Harvard fellowship.
Great for him.
