is the Shark the best WR ever at ND? just out of curiosity, isn't that debatable? Don't get me wrong I loved the kid.

Stat wise he is. Maybe Tim Brown was better, or even Derek Mayes, but they were in run-first offenses. Floyd and or Tate should set quite a few records.

I loved Lake Dawson......Derek Mayes........I also loved Oscar McBride....but he was a TE so I'm getting off track.

Tim Brown and Mayes were better...no need for a discussion...Jeff was good but did not have the pure athletic ability as those two did...I couldn't imagine the numbers they'd put up in Weis's offense in their prime..

COLLEGE FOOTBALL; Notre Dame Refuels Offense During a Pitt Stop - New York Times

COLLEGE FOOTBALL; Notre Dame Refuels Offense During a Pitt Stop
Published: October 11, 1992

Notre Dame exorcised its offensive demons and exercised its legs in a 52-21 thrashing of Pitt tonight.

Jerome Bettis rushed for three touchdowns and the Irish (4-1-1) compiled 521 total yards a week after being stymied and stomped by Stanford. Even the second-team offense scored against a porous Pitt (2-4) that was 95th out of 107 defenses in Division I-A.

Pitt scored first, but only after Notre Dame's Craig Hentrich botched a 38-yard field goal try. Sean Conley's 20-yard field goal gave Pitt a 3-0 lead at 5:31 of the first quarter.

That lasted 63 seconds. Notre Dame needed just four plays, the longest a 37-yard Lake Dawson romp after two Panthers missed him on a short pass. Bettis rolled the final 8 yards for a 7-3 advantage.

Conley converted a career-long 48-yard field goal on the next Pitt possession, but Notre Dame scored again, at 11:41 of the second quarter, when Rick Mirer lobbed his school-record 32d career touchdown pass, a 1-yarder to Oscar McBride.

Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz, peeved at his starters after the Stanford upset, inserted the entire second unit on the team's fourth possession. It scored after a 5-play, 65-yard drive on a 31-yard pass from Kevin McDougal to Derrick Mayes for a 21-6 lead.

The first-team offense scored upon its return. Bettis's 2-yard plunge with 32 seconds left in the half capped a 9-play, 82-yard march for a 28-6 cushion.

Pitt managed its first touchdown when a 15-play, 78-yard drive ended with a 5-yard pass from Alex Van Pelt to Dietrich Jells. A 2-point conversion, off a fake extra-point try, whittled the Irish lead to 28-14. That was as close as Pitt would creep.

with all that being said...he won't see the field ever. Maybe special teams if he's lucky. We had all Americans riding the pine at WR, plus we just added another all American. If he was a 2 for 1 then yes I'm glad he's here, other then that again i say what a waste.

i said that when UCLA offered him after Hillard committed. I figured they were gonna offer Manti's entire HS team.

your annoying

Tim Brown. Maurice Aurilius Stovall. Doesn't get any better than them.

Has anyone watched Toma's video posted earller? All this talk about his hands... He has EXPLOSIVE FOOTBALL SPEED and determination. He's gonna make Rocket look like a sissy. Tate gonna be worried.

the only reason he isnt more highly touted because i am pretty sure he didnt start until his junior year, probably because he was too small until then

Yeah stat wise I never realized the Shark was so imposing. I just looked it up last night, he had an amazing career at ND, of course we didn't pass until 2005 but whatever.

an All-American and the all-time leading WR at Notre Dame. Professional MLB pitcher for the Chicago Cubs...i wonder what he would have achieved if had more pure athletic ability? Hmmmm, i guess we'll never know.

Shark had more touchdowns in 1 season then Brown had in his whole career. His stats were not impressive, not even his MotherFuckinHeisman year.

Anyway Tim Brown was a bad ass.
